I managed to do one! With some u pins, but still. My hair was a little damp still so it is easier then.

One downside is that you can see the band that I made the ponytail with, however this SHOULD be easily solved by bringing the hair back over one more time in an X shape. The hair should then cover it.

Anyway.. this is what it looks like:

And here is the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxPrktjqQS8).

I make the first hop over the sticks from below, though officially you should do this first OVER the sticks, to the top. My hair however doesn't end up at the right spot to secure things when I do it that way.

I pull out the stick.. and the bun stays put *blink*

Wonderfully done! It looks fantastic! I run into the problem of the tie being visible, too. I've had the bun stay in after the stick was long gone, too. Sometimes I think if it stayed well enough I could just have a new style for the day. Stickless Chinese Bun maybe? :D

Hip hip hooray! Congrats! Mine stays put after I take out the stick too, I love this style, it's like an instant face lift! :D BWHAHAHAH

I love your videos - they're so helpful. :) My hair likes to grip things, so it would probably stay in after removing the stick as well.

A facelift? That bun is totally not tight for me at all?

you should try my 10sec bun though with a fork. ;)

Good.. forget I said anything ;)

The official method is to go OVER the sticks and then start wrapping, however my ends end up at the wrong side then, hence :)

I think it looks great, Eadwine! I (for the most part) solved my 'band showing through' problem by wearing a thinner hairband, and putting the stick slightly lower, so that the wrapping part of the bun somewhat covers it. I don't know if that would be helpful, but you could try it.

Ah yes, sounds like a solution indeed. Thanks!

That is great! This is why I want to try to grow my hair long again, so I can do some of these great styles!
