I've never been able to get the hang of rope braids. But I've always admired them. So, thanks to torrinpaige's rope braid video I've been able to make my first one. :cheese:

I don't know how to make it so the position of the ponytail doesn't shift slightly when I'm twisting, so it isn't perfect. But I'm happy I can finally do it! :D

Love it!!! It is beautiful!!! I can't get the hang of it --- I keep ending up with a mess. I guess practice is the key, right?

Thanks. :D Here's the link : http://www.youtube.com/user/torrinpaige#play/uploads/42/ImcPuruQMAw

ETA: It's actually pretty easy once you know the technique.

Awesome! Congratulations Whimsical. Don't sell yourself short--that rope braid looks great :)

Torrinpaige has all kinds of awesome videos. I actually learned the rope braid from her video as well. Heck, I even learned how she does a ponytail! She does it in such a way that helps the ponytail retain it's position much better.

I know you say it's not perfect, but it sure looks perfect to me!

Wow, it looks great!
I really want to learn the rope braid. I just can't get it at all!
I think I need to take a look at that video as well.

Looks very nice! I did one a few years ago and it was so neat, but like all my braids it got fuzzy quickly and then it wasn't so pretty. Maybe I need to start my braid high so it is away from my back, and wear silky clothing so nothing catches... or maybe my braids will just always be fuzzy....

You did a good job. :)

I have tried and tried a rope braid with not much success. Yours looks wonderful.

It looks great! I love rope braids. I too will need to check the video. I don't think my hair is long enough yet.

Isn't Torrinpaiges youtubes great? That's where I learned to do my rope braid. I even put my hair in my mouth like the video lol. It's so simple once you get the hang of it. And I almost always do it with damp hair, it turns out much smoother.

GORGEOUS. I'm green with envy. Between being left handed and always having uneven "hanks" in the rope I have yet to get the hang of this, perhaps there is hope for me after all...

That's awesome! Good job ^_^

When I was much younger (middle school) I got this 'klutz' book that had instructions for all the common braids and bows. The rope braid was one of many in there and I would always put my dolls into one, but I never did it on myself. My hair right now has too many layers for it to work, I think. Maybe I'll try later.

looks great! I recently did my first rope braid also, but it was a french type rope braid since my hair is too short to do a pony one like yours.

Great job! It looks very nice. I just watched Torrin's video this morning, and am thinking of trying the French Rope Braid. It's so nice of her to post the vids!

Eek, I'm excited! Inspired by this thread I watched the video and just did my first ever correct rope braid on my mom's hair! :D Now I'll have hope for doing one on my self.

Edit: I just did on myself! YAY!
The rope braid was the single style that I most wanted to learn after joining LHC. For some reason it always appealed to me, but I couldn't figure out how to do it.
