Ok, for years (about 5 or 6) i have razor cut my fine hair, dyed it every chemical color possible, bleached, henna'ed, bleached to get the henna out only to go back to it, henndigo'ed, cut to a bob, and severly MANGLED my poor hair. Today i had an epiphany! I was sitting in psychology class admiring this girls BSL hair that was absolutely gorgeous, when i decided that i had been holding myself back this whole time! Now i have decided to get rid of cones and to stop coloring, and to never use a heated tool on my hair for good! I informed my roommate of my decision and she said she will hold me to it :) I am so excited! I feel like i have started an amazing journey!! Anyways here is a pic with the mess i have started with, btw, i have natural dark blonde hair but its really hard to tell in this picture through all that henna. :cheese:

Your hair actually looks great for being as abused as you said it was! :) Good luck and have fun! :flower:

I remember when I vowed to never color, straighten or blowfry my hair again. It was a great feeling! I'm over a year into not coloring and I can't wait to get rid of my old dye. Can't cut yet though! I'm racing with JoJo to waist by Christmas!! :D

Your hair will grow. You'll go through that akward stage... just stick with it! The first 6 months are the hardest seeing the regrowth. After that, it's all gravy!

Congratulations and good luck. The grow-out phase can be interesting-- you get to see that swatch of virgin hair getting bigger every month. Are you going to maintain one length & trim off the ends as you transition? Or just let it all grow?

He he. Henna can cover a number of sins, can't it? That was one thing I really loved about that stuff. :D

Beware of stopping cones while growing out damaged hair. While I was doing it I found I just couldn't get a comb through my hair if I didn't use cones.

My advice to you is to be flexible on this point. I'm still using them, BTW. They're aren't evil for everybody. ;)

Happy growing!

Congrats on your decision! It'll be fun, honest! :)

I made a similar decision a few months back, and I've loved every minute of it. I permanently outlawed (for my own hair) all chemical processes, heat styling, and blowfrying. My hair feels sooooo much better after just a few months!

I'm one happy cone-free hennahead, lol. I hope you're as pleased with your results as I have been with mine!

Good luck!

I'm about three months into my transition, and I've found it surprisingly easy not to dye my hair. I would suggest just getting rid of the heat styling tools. My GHDs call out to me I swear!

Fellow hair abuser here *raises hand*
I'm still recovering from razored layers, which I find even worse than having semi-fried hair. It might just be the henna, but your hair really looks like it's in good condition. Happy growing! :)

Aw guys!! thanks for the support! :) To answer the first question i am not maintaining where i am at. I have a plan! First im going to grow out my virgin hair to BSL, then I am going to make a major chop and get rid of all the ends with the dye. :) Last night i clarified and used a conelss condish, and my hair feels like SILK!!! :D
