Kisaeng (also spelled gisaeng) were Korean musicians/dancers/artists/poets/courtesans. They has some really interesting hairstyles. Has anyone ever tried to do them or other traditional Korean hairstyles? I know they would usually need extra hairpieces, but I wonder if any of us could come up with some variations based on those styles.
I'll post some links:

Thanks for the links! Those were fascinating. Some of the styles in the second part looked like they might be doable. (obviously not the one where they added that huge braided switch, and then put a big pile of false hair on top of that. I think it was one of the 'simple' styles!)

The person who was styling the hair didn't seem very gentle, did she? Forget about damaging the hair, there were several times the models looked like it must hurt.

I wish they'd shown some of the steps more clearly; I really liked the braided bun with the hairstick that was part of several styles.

LOL. Yeah, I was surprised at the rough handling, but I guess they were trying to get it done as quickly as possible.
I watched the period drama series Hwang Jin Yi recently (except episode 21 because the link was broken) and thought the hair and clothing (I love hanbok!) were great.
