View Full Version : Hairtyping

I finally got around to getting a hairtyping pic done, and I think it's very interesting.
When i typed myself, with help from my sister, I thought it looked like some of the girls typed in 1a and 1b, so I put myself as inbetween.

Now that I've finally gotten to take pictures of my hair, I see that I have more waves than I thought (yay!), and that makes me wonder if I've typed myself correctly? So I'm asking for your opinions too.

Hair is washed with mild SLS shampoo twice, and no conditioner.
Been in towel (nun-style, no turban) after shower, while putting on moisturizer and clothes, then completely left to airdry.

Sorry about the picsize, i tried resizing them, but I don't think it worked.

Hair when wet, straght out of the towel

Could I possibly be more of 1c, or perhaps even 2a?

I would call you a 1c.

Uncombed I'd say 1c/2a, maybe more of a 2a

"1c - straight with body wave and one or two visible S-waves (e.g. nape of neck or temples)
2a - loose, stretched out S-waves throughout the hair"

I'd say 2a, but if you do regular oilings and deep treatments, you'll probably develop more curls - judging by the almost-spirals on your ends.

I'd say 1c/2a.

Your hair looks a bit like mine when it's uncombed, but I think you could develop more waves.

I'd go with 1C.

Yeah, it's weird though, i've always thought of myself as a straghtie.

Ooh awensome.:cheese: I'm currently swtching to more natual shampoos etc, so that may have given a slight contribution too. No cones.

I'd say 1c/2a.

I hope I'll get more waves. I had gorgeous curls when i was a baby :)

I'd go with 1C.
Thank you.

Since there seems to be alittle divided between 1c, inbetween and 2a, I'll go change my hairtype to 1c/2a now :D

Does is get curlier or straighter when it's wet?
From what I see I'd say 1c/2a mix.

It gets curlier when wet, but once a comb or brush goes through it, it's stick straight again. I'd love alittle more curl so it can appear to be more volume.

But I changed it back to 1b/1c as a compromise for the time beeing. I just can't seem to tell myself I might have waves. I think maybe it's leftover bunwaves or something that created that effect, even though I hadn't had my hair in a bun for quite some time there...

I plan on clarifying for the first time one of these days, so hopefully that will show me the real condition (and type) of my hair, if I leave it loose alittle while longer.

Too wavey for a 1b. At least 1c!
I'd still say it's 1c/2a.
My hair is quite like yours. It can look really wavey, like 2a or even 2b, the next day it will be straight like 1b/c hair. My hair is more wavey when wet (after wash, rain makes it wavey-frizzy).
