Split ends. When I S&D, I notice that the ends wrap around, and I find the split ends by the splits being caught on healthy hairs.
And that is the secret.
The split ends are really the lovers of the healthy ends, impregnating them with more split ends, only to give birth after a seemingly successful S&D, multiplying the splits up to threefold. Clearly, this is why it always seems like I have more splits after an S&D, and why the new ones are always tiny.
It would seem that I need to work on matching up the gestation period of split ends with my S&Ds.
I knew it. They really are making babies...
