I need some inspiration, so please help me out! I've been thinking off and on of cutting a few inches. That would put me at just below shoulder length. It's a very late "summer itch," I guess. I can push through this... I'm posting a few of my favorite old photos where my hair was long(er) and pretty. Will you guys post your own favorite long hair photos too? If I see a thread full of hair, it may help curb the feeling of wanting to cut. Thanks!

So far my Siggy is my favorite hair- My longest in a very long time.

I'm not good at the 2 week rule but you can try that too, see if that helps pass this feeling. Your hair looks great though, keep up your hard work!

Thank you for the encouragement. Sometimes I just wonder why I want long hair. I mean, I don't do anything but wear ponytails and headbands. I've tried off and on since 2004 (when I became a member) to do a bun. Can't do it. Any "simple" hairstyle is too hard for me. Or maybe I'm too lazy to learn. Probably both. :p I hate tangles and I hate doing S&D's... I do like some length on me, though. Having hair below my shoulders makes life easier for me and I look better. So I won't go shorter than maybe 2" below shoulder length if I cut. I'm still going to wait, so don't worry. I've had thoughts like this before and sometimes they pass.

This picture is like 5 years old... but that is what I want to get back to. It is my natural hair... texture and color. Imagine where I would be if I had left it alone!

Ignore the fact that I look so young and unhappy. :p

Definitely consider the two week rule before cutting, but in the end do what makes you the happiest.

I really hope you can make a choice that leaves you happy with your hair. It's true that once you cut, it will take awhile to get back to a length you liked better - but if you're constantly questioning growing it out and whether you should cut, then maybe the whole journey is not what you really want. Your hair is YOUR hair, and YOU alone know the right answer for yourself. That said, I also question once in a blue moon, whether I want to keep going. The photos here at LHC really inspire me to keep on, towards what I ultimately want. It's like a recommitment sometimes, to look at long-hair photos and remember why I started growing again in the first place. :flower:

Here is my favorite hair photo of myself. It's not all brushed and polished like most LHC photos, but I think it adds to the charm. You can't really see the ends, because they're spread in the grass, LOL, but I like the bamboo in my yard and the light was nice. :)

I'm very updo inept as well and limit myself to ponys, half-ups and claw clips right now. Even way back in the day when my hair was it's longest (almost waist!!!) I didn't do much with it. I do admire many shorter styles on others and wonder "what if..." and I have to really buckle down to not cut. But admittedly, this time in my life calls for easy maintainence (3 month old + 5 yo + 3 yo = insanity!) and like you, I think length is more becoming on me. Besides, I hate being grouped in with the typical 'mom style' so if that means growing it down to my knee caps, by dingy, I will! lol

Your hair is gorgeous and would be whether it is long or short. Do what's best for you like pp said. :)

Tap Dancer, your hair is beautiful. I love its thickness and rich color. I really hope you decide not to cut.

Here's a recent one of me. I'd like to grow it longer while keeping the waves and reasonably thick hemline.

I have an appointment Monday morning. I'm going to cut a few inches off. In the end, I have to be happy with it. I know a lot of you keep saying I shouldn't cut it, but you have to remember how hard longer hair is to deal with when you don't know how to style it. I've tried learning styles from books and from watching YouTube videos and it's just too hard for me.

My hair will still be "long" (meaning below shoulder length), though. :)

Yes, you're right. YOU have to be happy with it. It seems such a shame to cut. How about I come down there and teach you how to braid and do whatever kind of bun you can manage? (I'm not very good at learning new styles either- I have a few that work for me and then I just vary the hair toys!). Whaddya think??

You are absolutely right that YOU have to be happy with YOUR hair! A little tip for volume, from a girlfriend. Once your hair is 90% dry, put it up in a bun while you finish getting ready. You will get a little more movement and volume. It probably helps if you have some long layers to help it curl on the end. Unless you happen to be a lucky wavy girl. I can't really tell in your pics. I always practice new styles and ways to do my hair on weekends, so I"m not in a hurry to get out of the door for work. Good luck with your cut and maybe you'll take some pics for us?!?!?!:D

I like this one because my little Paisley girl is in it:

Unfortunately, I don't really have any favorite hair shots as I need to actually get out and actually take pics of the back of my hair in sunlight and other situations aside from just getting quick shots while I'm lounging around the house in my pajamas late at night LOL.

Although no one would wear their hair like this on purpose,

Maybe I'm weird but I thought it looked cool. Even on a normal day!

Hi everyone! So i'm basically a newbie :$ but I want to share some of my pics! First of all. WOW what a lovely lovely hair everyone of you has! it's just so shiny and tidy!. I have an oldie one wich I like, even if my hair looks messy, it's just so loooong, I have kind of a pixie thing trying to grow right now, so I just stare and look how looong used to be. No problem tho, I'm working on getting that lenght again!!!:o:o

Although no one would wear their hair like this on purpose, except for Halloween or an 80's party, it's a favorite just for the sheer silliness, and a good reminder on why not everyone likes to dry brush their hair.

XD Though I know how you feel on that...I really quite like the picture. :p Looks all 'wild amazon' like. Just add some trees and a xena outfit and you're set!

Wow, everyone has such beautiful hair!

This isn't the longest it ever was, but I blowdried, straightened, and THEN used a curling iron every day (the horror!), so I don't have many other good pictures of the natural texture.

Why did I cut? Don't cut and end up like me back at square one unless you really, really want to :o

I don't have time to dig out the photos, but my "mermaid wearing red" is one of my favorites. Dulci (or was it mebo?) took it when we met several years ago.

Everyone's hair is so beautiful! My favorite picture of long hair is the one I took last week of my 3 year old granddaughter. She has the most beautiful curls!http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=149785&id=746376787&saved#/photo.php?pid=4156713&id=746376787

I've always like these. They're kinda old, but something about the lighting in my old apartment that day seemed to make my hair look REALLY shiny :)

I just like the length shot on this. It takes forever for my hair to show dry length.

OMG!! I love that shot! You are my pale /red/ hair sister! LOLOLOL!!:D:D

It never ever ever occured to me to take a pick of my hair brushed out dry...egads that its just MAGNIFICENT!!!!

You rock dear..you simply rock!

CurlyLoLo, hello curly sis!

There is a whole thread full of wavies and curlies showing brushed out hair. It's huge and full of those kinds of pics. I love that thread. I find it interesting to see how sleek the hair of straighter heads can get with dry brushing, and how curlier heads can get a *totally* different look from dry brushing, lol.

Yeah, it's my natural texture! I always used to hate it, but since being here I've learned that it's not so bad. And thank you for the compliment! I'm trying to grow it back to that again.
