What length can you start (successfully ;)) self-trimming?

Well, Feye's self trimming for blunt hemline is based on a ponytail with the scrunchie sliding down for as long as the hair is, so I guess as soon as you can do a ponytail and bring it forward your can do a blunt cut. I think U or V shape don't even require that. That said, you can ask somebody (you trust) to trim the ponytail for you if it's too short.

btw, your hemline looks good in the siggy.

I've been successfully self-trimming since I was at chin, but I do layers and I've also cut a lot of hair in my life.

I've been doing it since I had a buzzcut, but I have forgiving curly hair.

For straight hair I suppose it's best to start when you can get your hair into a ponytail at your nape, or pigtails over each shoulder (I think Feye shows both methods on her site).
