Five years (and nearly two months) on LHC!

I finally got around to putting a few pictures together for a belated anniversary thread. I have about one squillion pictures, so I just picked one from each year, somewhere between June and August.

When I joined, my hair was pretty trashed thanks to a disastrous bleach/dye affair that I'd used semi-permanent on top of three or four times to cover the unflattering shade. To say I had breakage would be a gross understatement. I started hennaing at the end of 2004 and continued until November 2006. I've since been growing it out - thankfully it blends relatively well with my natural color that's now approaching BSL even on the canopy. I figure I have a couple of years left of growing and trimming before it's all gone. The last of the bleached and dyed hair disappeared last November when I did a bigger cut of 5.5". It's nearly grown back to the same length again now.

The longest my hair has been in these years is 38.6 inches about a year ago now. However it really looks better when it's a bit shorter, so unless it suddenly decides to get thicker it probably will hover around 36". Right now it's at 36.6".

I've learned a lot about hair care while I've been here, but more important are the friends I've made. I like that this community is largely peaceful and friendly, and really appreciate the wonderful moderators that keep us all in line.

I know henna is supposed to thicken the hair, but in your case it seems to have changed your texture quite a bit. Maybe once you got rid of all the dyed parts you´ll decide to grow a bit further, who knows.

Melisande - interesting question! And no, no one in real life knows anything much about this board. KarenLynn isn't actually my name, and no one's ever asked me what the KL knot is or how to do it. I rarely get comments on my styles, toys, or hair in general. So yes, people would definitely be stunned. :lol:
