How to retrieve a PM

Is there a way to retrieve a message that you accidentally deleted while cleaning house? I can't find a trash bin. My searches within this forum have not yielded an answer but I learned other neat stuff.:)

Can you contact the person who wrote to you? Maybe they still have it in their sent box?
