Cinnabun

Hey, all - I've noticed that the Cinnabun or Cinnamon Bun is really popular with a lot of you old-timers. I looked on the VIT thread, but I didn't see instructions for a Cinnamon Bun - is this the Cinnamon Celtic Knot, or the Cinnamon French twist, or is there another style...? If there is, does anyone have instructions s/he would be willing to share? :confused:

The cinnamon bun is just a basic, basic bun. Here's how you do it?

1. Gather all your hair into a ponytail where you want the bun to be.
2. Start to twist your hair. Eventually, it will start to want to curl in a circle - let it. Keep twisting and wrapping.
3. Tuck the ends under and secure however you like.

You can secure a cinnabun with just about anything - pins, sticks, a fork, ficcare, clips, whatever. Depending on the thickness and weight of your hair, you may also be able to secure it with an elastic or a scrunchie.

You just make a sausage of your hair and turn it. Your hair will then form itself into a cinnabun all by itself. A nice spiral. All you have to do is pin it on your head ingeniously, using a ficcarre, scroos, pins, sticks, forks.... you get the idea. If you can't get the ends to form the end of the spiral, tuck them under.

It's easy and looks very lovely, I think.

Oh, my gosh!! lol I have been doing Cinnabuns all my adult life! Only, I've always secured them with a Scrunchie (bad me! Bad me!) instead of pinning as I go. Now I have fun hair toys, I can dispense with that nonsense. ;) Thank you so much for your answers!!! I love how helpful everyone is here. I have learned soooo much in just a month!!

Yeah, when I first started here I wondered what in the heck a cinnamon bun was, too. Then I realized it was the basic, regular bun I've always done (and secured with a scrunchie, too!), I just never had a name for it!

I don't know about any of you, but this is not an easy bun for me. I never can get it to hold comfortably. Inevitably the scenario is: can't get it to stay, or if I do get it to stay, it pulls uncomfortably in at least one place.

I think this bun hates me, so I'll just stick to my fav: the Lazy Wrap Bun.

Thanks for posting that. I've never been able to do cinnabuns. They always turn into bee butt buns, even when I try to hold the first coil down while wrapping the others. Next time I'll try pinning each coil.

I could never do this bun until I got Amish pins. Now it is a favorite, sometimes I braid it first to look more complicated (LOL). I'm going to ask for Flexi-8 and a ficcare for Christmas, I don't know if those would work or not yet.

Cinnabuns are also really comfy and secure when anchored by clipping tiny jaw-claws all the way around the bun. :D
