ideas for layered hairstyle for long hair

After seven years of growing, my wife has decided to cut some of her length and to allow her hairstylist friend to add some layers. She has grown her hair from collar bone to 48 inches, just short of classic. I color her hair with henna and have been doing her trims for the past few years. She has finally decided it is time to cut some length, how much she hasn't shared. Since she has fine hair, the stylist suggested the layers and she is thinking about this. I know that most would suggest not getting them and that information will be welcomed as will anyone who has cut back on their length and gotten layers and is happy with them. Directions to sites with pictures for her would be appreciated. Thanks for your help. She is cutting Friday morning due to the red letter days of 3/4 for September.

I hope your wife likes her new cut. (I could not see the link) I did not see this thread earlier or I would have tried to help. I like my current long layers but will most likely grow them out to make braiding easier.

I am sorry you didn't get any replies! I didn't see your post earlier... and as a newbie I'm unsure about offering advice. I hope you are both happy with her new look hair.
