View Full Version : What is your "default" style?

Leneveu

What style do you end up wearing when you're thinking about things other than hair? :p

Elphie
August 31st, 2009, 03:25 AM
If a loose ponytail pulled half way through can be considered a style, that that would be it. If I want to put a tad more effort into it, a quick topsy tail.

Lemur_Catta
August 31st, 2009, 03:39 AM
An english braid or two, depending on what I have to do. My buns never stay in place so if I don't want to think about hair my only choice is this :D Even if I hate how wavy my hair becomes after braiding it.

A loose cinnamon bun held with a Ficcare.

An orchid or figure 8 bun worn every day. Okay, I took it down Saturday for a few hours....

simple twist-up bun held with a Scrunchie (I know! I know! I'm sorry, remember, I'm new to all of this! lol) Now I've got my Flexi-8s, hopefully this will change soon.

Equilibrium bun for me!
Segmented ponytail or simple braid for workouts and rope jumping.

A bad fig 8 with a 60th St three prong fork is my everyday style.

Schnail
August 31st, 2009, 04:06 AM
Heh, before coming here my default style was a tight and high pony-tail. Now I'm more likely to put it up in a cinnamon bun with a chopstick or two.

Mine is simple braid as a default style, keeps my layers out of my face.

A sock bun, just recently. A single plait for the longest time.

French braid :) Sometimes even a simple cinnamon bun won't work, so I like a french braid the most

My default style is a messy bun held up with a hair stick.

Liluri

Cinnamon bun with Ficcare to hold it there. I wear it to work so it's my most used hairstyle because of that.

Carolyn
August 31st, 2009, 04:58 AM
Good topic! I do a very badly done cinnamon bun held with whatever is in reach a lot of the time. The halfway pulled through ponytail is another. Lately I've been getting more nape tangles with that style.

Leneveu
August 31st, 2009, 05:16 AM
Oh, I forgot to mention: mine is the lazy wrap. I can even do this style whilst walking :)

Katrina

Nautilus bun held with a hairstick (most often Ketylo) or two.

Leoneska
August 31st, 2009, 05:21 AM
A simple braid or a French twist - still have too many different length layers and too poor skills to do something nice :(

Ella Menneau P.
August 31st, 2009, 05:23 AM
before I found this board it was just a cinnabun. Now I can choose--lazy wrap (can also do it while walking/talking/other stuff), karen Lynn bun, and If I really need it out of the way all day it goes in a braided bun held with a fork or sticks.:)

getoffmyskittle
August 31st, 2009, 05:28 AM
Currently, a cinnabun held with a Ficcare. This style changes, though. In a few months, it'll probably be different.

What's a lazy wrap..?

Melisande

Lazy wrap or figure eight, held with whatever's available ;-)

Boring old pony tail. But the main objective is that it's out of my face.

spidermom
August 31st, 2009, 05:54 AM
Something I call the bird's nest bun. It's sort of like a cinnabun except I don't twist my hair, and I have to pull the middle coil outward over the outer coils. I'll try to remember to post a picture later.

Unzadi
August 31st, 2009, 05:58 AM
My default style is a messy bun held up with a hair stick.

Same here. If I'll be wearing a hat for a good portion of the day, it may switch to twin braids or ponytails, worn low. For sleep, either single braid or scrunchie bun.

Masara
August 31st, 2009, 07:26 AM
My quick, don't need to think about it style is a French braid if I need to leave the house, otherwise it's some sort of half cinnabun, half beebut with not much twisting

eternallyverdan
August 31st, 2009, 07:33 AM
I alternate between an infinity bun and Spidermom's bun that stays, depending on what hairtoy I have on hand. I also wear my hair down a lot.

JamieLeigh
August 31st, 2009, 08:47 AM
I don't really have a lot of time on any day to think about hair stuff, LOL. I have too many kids. :p Most days I just do a ponytail, then braid it and bun it with my black karma clip. Or I'll do a simple cinnabun with a hairstick or two. Those styles seem to stay put better than most others, so I come back to them often when I'm being a busy mom. :)

Up. :) Since May it has been a log roll and before that it was an "inside out bun" (I think that is what it's called.)

rexy
August 31st, 2009, 09:42 AM
Lazy wrap, or a twisted lazy wrap. Or the one where you twist the hair around the hair stick and then insert the stick down. Can't remember what its called.

saskia_madding
August 31st, 2009, 09:50 AM
I French or Dutch braid my hair in a diagonal (from the top of my head on one side, down to the nape of my neck on the opposite side) and then put the tail into a braided bun. I hold this with a different stick or fork each day and swap which side the bun is on.

August 31st, 2009, 10:12 AM
A low ponytail with a scrunchie. Buns make my scalp ache from the hair being held in the wrong direction, so I only wear them when I really want the hair off my neck.

SimplyViki
August 31st, 2009, 10:13 AM
A non-cinnamon cinnabun. Mine's not flat, because if I make it flat, all the layers pop out. So it's more a turd-like thing.

I always wear an english braid. But, this winter, I really wanna try buns on a daily basis. First off because I want to stop thinking about the lenght for a while and let it grow, and then I think it may be more protective to the lenght...

Cinnabun with a stick or a pair of sticks. I've gotten better about variety, but this is still my go-to style when I'm distracted, busy, or rushed.

ETA: Actually, this was originally the result of my deciding to branch out and vary my hair styles. For a long time, all I ever wore was the figure eight bun, but that was before I came here, and before I even knew that it had a name. Now it looks like I'm in a "cinnabun rut."

Lazy wrap bun or a braided cinnabun.

Magicknthenight
August 31st, 2009, 07:17 PM
i usually end up with a lazy bun. Except now i wrap it a few more times haha. Well sometimes when i have the time (rarely cuz I'm always rushed to get ready) i do a Chinese braided bun. minus the hair tye of course :P
It seems like these are my own 2 styles as of lately. i might try another like an infinity bun or this bun you twist around and put two fingers to make a loop and pull the loop down..but often its the lazy bun. it doesn't hurt if left in too long like that loop bun (most of the time) its quick and i like the way it looks. i really needa learn some new styles :P

A messy cinnabun secured with an old homemade hairstick, or a loose ponytail held by a scrunchy. (I love the scrunchy! It's a cheery plaid, was made for me by a dear friend, and doesn't poke into my head or neck.)

CheshireGrin

Braid or half down. It's actually less effort to keep a half do looking decent than a full updo, for some reason.

Botticelli Gold
August 31st, 2009, 07:27 PM
I tend to wear a high ponytail, or a variation of that where I don't pull the hair all the way through, the final time through the hair tie. Kind of like a long loop with the ends hanging down. Does that make sense? lol!

Rivanariko
August 31st, 2009, 07:58 PM
Either a french braid (if I'm working, because I have to wear a helmet and therefore can't really have it "up") or in a sort of knot-bun-thing held with a hair stick. I've been trying to branch out more lately, but nothing else wants to stay as well as my knot-thing!

pepperminttea
August 31st, 2009, 09:40 PM
On a bad hair day, either a braided cinnabun or a braided nautilus (which I may have spelt wrong...). On a good day, a small half up, ie. just the bits at the front rather than the entire top half.

Cinnamon bun secured with Ketylo hairstick(s), 60th Street fork or Ficcare. I try to rotate my styles but I think I wear cinnamon bun about 80 % of the time. I seem to forget all the others when I'm busy...

It's been an English braid, either hanging down or clipped up like this (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=3722&pictureid=48318). But I joined LHC to learn new styles (and the forum is filled with hairtoy enablers ;)) so I'm hoping to start using buns more :)

The style I go to most often is a bunned braid held with some mini claw clips. It holds well more often than not, especially when it's not done on wet hair (hair dries, it pulls). It gets a lot of use.

it's not really a style, but I wear a single english braid in the back most of the time.

RocketDog

Lately it's been a mishmash of english/french braiding. My hair is at that awkward length where I can't do a decent bun, but a simple peacock-style twist always looks sloppy. I badly need a trim, but I'm trying to put it off so I just throw my hair into a braid and ignore it...

teela1978
September 1st, 2009, 06:58 PM
cinnabun with a stick... although I've been riding my bike more and recently decided to risk my life less by wearing a helmet, so for the last week or so an english braid has been my usual.

Single English braid or cinnabun.

Now that I can do a nautilus and hold it in place with a pencil, I've been wearing it a lot (I need pins for my cinnabun, so 1 pencil is a huge time improvement over 10 pins and a couple of scrunchies).

Ligeia_13

It changes. Maybe it's because I am new to having hair that's actually long enough to put up in several ways and I get new alternatives all the time because it's growing more. For some months it was spin pins. Before that it was a peacock twist with a comb. Now it's high ponytail but now I feel like gibson tuck could be the next one...

When my hair was longer I used to wear it in lazy wrap bun all the time.

anitacs9101
April 23rd, 2013, 01:25 PM
Either a low ponytail with a scrunchie (quick, easy and very comfortable) or a nautilus (quick, easy, less in the way, not always quite as comfortable.) I don't like how I look in either of these though so most of the time this is an at home style. :)

Another go-to style if I want to forget about my hair for a while is a ponied two-strand cinnamon bun held with amish pins or spin pins. That sucker will stay for DAYS.
