What is the best way to do this?

I usually just lightly massage my scalp for about 10 minutes every night before bed or while I am watching the news. Anyone have tips?

I've been wondering about this lately too. I used to just rub lightly for a few minutes but recently I read that you're supposed to actually try to move the skin on your scalp. I tried it and it's hard to do, but feels nice.

I use Snowy's Massage Technique (http://archive.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=15976) every morning, especially when I'm washing with water only or not washing. I make sure my hands are very clean first, unless I know I'm washing with soap right away. I know the pictures are gone, but I just followed the written instructions.

This is not much help. . . but I swear the best way is to get somebody to do it for you, so you can relax and go to sleep :p hehe IMO that's the only way to get a proper scalp massage! ;)

I second that. My husband and I got this cool lil' gadget at Camden Market for head massaging. It's a little octopus and it feels SO GOOD... makes you tingle! It looks like this:

That looks cool! I remember one time my ex-gf, had something that was similar to that, but it was bulkier, and and roundish orbs in the octo shape. But when she used it on me, it felt like something was taking a baseball bat to my head :brains: lol

oh, ha ha. This one feels FANTASTIC! Whenever my husband puts it on my head it makes me shiver and get goose bumps! I love it! Everyone should own a head massaging octopus.

Me too. Although Snowy explained it very well but pics would have been helpful.

For a simple head massage i just start at the hairline in gentle but firm circular movements and work my way back over my scalp finishing at my nape. Then i grab sections of hair and gently pull.
The key is to move the scalp as you want to be working on the muscle over the scalp, reducing tension there and increasing blood flow.
