View Full Version : What is the most you paid for a hairtoy?

Since most of us are obsessed with with hairtoys and know that "most of the time" you have to pay a bit extra money to get a good qulaity item. Hense I say most of the time not all of the time.I know some of us buy cheap stuff and they hold up and look amazing. Either way, what is the most you paid for a hairtoy? I have to say the most I paid was 30$ for my graydog hair pin; which I love to pieces and wear on most days.

Yep, my medium ficcares, running at $32 a pop. After that my custom dragon hair stick made by amadlife0 and then at close range the 60thstreet forks. :)

I paid approx. $60 for a pair of longlocks.. in 2006 I think - my first hair sticks^^

A total order:
Last year I ordered 4 ficcares.. $34x4 = $136 (+ $65 - Danish taxes... ouch!!) -- $201!

I didn't buy it, but my hubby bought me a beautiful copper, brass and nickel comb for our anniversary last year. They were $65 at the time - they upped the price, now they are $75 <sniff>

I don't usually spend lots on hairtoys, most of mine are some form of elastic / scrunchie or ribbon, I have some headbands and clips too. but the most I ever spent on a single hairtoy was 10 pounds on a simple tiara it had no jewels or anything on it and I only had to wear it for one night.

My most expensive hair toys are my ficcares. Somewhere between $32 and $36 plus sales tax.

I would have a hard time spending more than that on a hair toy, however. It just doesn't seem worth it.

They have some very pretty things in there! I've tried and tried to buy things there, but my hair doesn't like them unfortunately. I went in there one day and found some sticks I loved and asked the girl 'if I break them, do I have to buy them?' she got a confused look on her face, then looked at my hair, grinned and said no. I tried them...I snapped one, I was so sad, I gave them back to her and left.

The most I've spent on a given item is $6-7 dollars... But that was when I was given money and told to go "buy something for yourself for christmas." So, I bought some things that I wouldn't normally have bought for myself.

The most I've spent in a day was probably less than $20.

Now.... Conditioner buying day is a completely different story... :D

Hmmm. I have honestly gotten some killer deals on most of my toys. I am thinking maybe $45 or so at most? Now, if we were talking what "retail" cost on my entire collection would be... then I probably wouldn't want to know. :silly:

$31 for these (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=8040039). I kicked myself in the a$$ all the way back to Nightshades shop to buy more :o

I bought a Ficcare for $28. I bought a Quattro stick for about the same price. Then I sold both of these so they don't count. I also ordered a total of three Flexi 8s for about $45. I'm another one that gets killer deals :)

The most I have ever spent is prob $10. I dont have much though since I'm just venturing into long hair. I'm thinking about a ficcare but am still undecided. They look like they might be heavy and I dont care for heavy hair accessories.

Products on the other hand I have spent a lot more on.

If you are going to attend a meet, message the other people coming and ask them to bring along the toys you want to see.

I tried a ficcare out at a meet and saw other things I wanted too. I am sure anyone would be willing to bring one along for you to try.

I knwo after the graydog I go for cheaper items usually around 15-20$ and then I only buy it if i have the money. I want a ficcare to but like you said I wish I could try it first to see if it is worth 32 dollars plus the shipping cost.

I paid $50 for a Monk hairstick, but the end is topped with a ruby in a sterling silver cap. I can't figure out why no one else bid on it but I'm glad none of you did because it is stunning. I have another Monk stick of similar design but with wood of a different burl and it is topped with an emerald in a sterling cap. I think I paid $50 for that one too. Normally I make my own sticks and forks, but since I don't have rubies and emeralds lying around, and the Monk does good work, I splurged.

My ficcares were my biggest extravagance, by far. I don't know what would be my next most expensive thing... I'd say my ketylos? Or a cat hair stick I bought (and haven't worn yet) that was 8 euro... Oh or my flexi-8.

I guess after the ficcare's, the most expensive things I've bought would be around 15 dollar. I don't have a lot of money at the moment so even that is quite "expensive" for me :o

$195.00 for a Jezzard and Jezzard slide/snoody thing that was an impulse purchase at the renaissance festival. Half the cost was the stone on it and I'd say it is worth it because it is one of the few pieces of my jewelry that gets real use.

Well, I didn't buy them, but my mom bought me a $60-ish pair of longlocks sticks approx 5 years ago. They weren't worth it IMO.

A close second would be a $40-ish danglestick from Quattro (I wish I still had it but I sold it after I cut my hair). He doesn't make them anymore, but maybe he would if I ask...

$160.00 for a pair of LongLocks sticks, including shipping. Other LongLocks pairs were from $95.00 to $130.00.

I think the priciest was a shade under $40 for a MTM three prong in blue.
I look at it this way: I love my hair. My husband loves my hair. I have red hair and a goodly dose of the fabled temper (oh quit laughing).
which means if I have to mess with my hair all that much I say things like scissors.
which I do not mean 45 seconds later.

So I have a small but fun hair toy collection.

I believe my most expensive hairtoy was a sterling and garnet braid ender. It hooks through the elastic and wraps around the end of the braid. It came from Gaelsong, and I see that while they still have them, the price seems to have gone up. At least, I don't think I paid sixty dollars for it when I bought it a few years ago. And I just binged on some lovely hairsticks, but the braid ender was the most expensive single item.

I think the most I've spent is $5 and that's pushing it.

I've spent $40 each on my Ficcares and after that I have bought a hair fork by Barreis for $30 ish

Before I had long hair I would never spend more than a few dollars on any hair accessory but I would also never wear them. I also would spend $50 every 6 weeks to get my hair cut and colored.

I wear the Ficcares and my hair fork frequently, I think it's worth it although I would never amass a $800 hair toy collection as that seems a bit crazy I don't see anything wrong with buying expensive, well made hair accessories that I use alot.

The most I've spent on a single hairtoy is probably only £5, and I usually buy them in Claire's, Superdrug or Internacionale or other high street stores.

...As YET, that is to say! Since I joined LHC recently I've been coveting all these gorgeous, expensive hairtoys I've seen posted... you guys are such enablers! :p

I don't have very many hair toys yet. So far, the most I've paid was $20 for a pair of hair sticks. I got them at a Ren. faire, and they were handmade, so I thought that was a really reasonable price. I really want a Ficcare now, after seeing all the beautiful ones people have on here. If I had more money, you can probably guess where it would be going. ;)

p.s. I love how the ad at the bottom of the page is for "longhairgirl.com". As if LHC isn't already tempting me enough to go spend all my money on hair accessories! :D

Me two. I bought practically all of the Lotus Jewel Collection and wear one of the collection almost every day. Worth every penny as far as I'm concerned. And if what I'm wearing doesn't match one of the jewel collection, I have other Ficcares that most likely will or the fallback of the silver Ficcares.

I paid $80 for a Graydog stick.

The most expensive piece I own though was a gift, another Graydog that sold for $230. I received it for my birthday this year (along with a second Graydog that sold for $80; both gifts were from the same person).

$45 for a pair of beatnik505 sticks. I can call that $22.50 per hair toy, since it was a pair. And $22.50 is still my highest expenditure.

The most I paid is somewhere between $5-9, but I don't want to spend expensive! I choose wisely to protect my hair from damaging it! So I use the Goody hair accessories that keeps it from damaging hair and not pulling out your hair! Like those soft scrunchy hair band, bigger size, I use jaw clips from small to medium size and clips! That's it! For the hair sticks, I just wait til classic length! I'll buy hair sticks maybe less than $10 that won't damage hair! I'm kindy :agree::ppicky on choosing the good hairtoy that isn't expensive!

$12 for my Ketylos rosewood stick. I've eyed some of the more expensive sticks/clips/forks/slides, but right now I just can't fit anything more pricey into my tiny student budget. Maybe for Christmas...

I think $44 for a large Ficcare (my Mason Pearson brush is the most expensive but that's not really a hairtoy). I usually place big orders and my biggest order to date is $400 + customs for 8 Ficcares. Crazy!:o Now, why you had to show me these Longlocks sticks...:D

It's not the hair toys I spend the money on, its the hair products that cost me the most.

$50 for a fancy swirly Celtic-y sterling clip at a renfair. I would never have regretted it, either, if I hadn't lost it to a sticky-fingered college roomie in 1995 or so!

Hmm, this is a tough question. The most expensive hair toy I have is possibly the crystal Ficcare (http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff176/Little_Orca/Long%20Hair%20Gallery/Hair%20Toys/IMG_8136-1.jpg) my fiance got for me ($60), but as for buying one on my own...:hmm: Maybe my other Ficcares (http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff176/Little_Orca/Long%20Hair%20Gallery/Hair%20Toys/IMG_7133.jpg).

about forty dollars, I think? $36.00? But I "buy in bulk", as it were, so I tend to pay a lot more as a result. ;op (No one can buy just one! lol)
