Gorgeous pin-up girl hair!

Hello all,

A few weeks ago I stumbled across the blog of adorable Finnish pin-up pixie Ulrika Bacher, and now it's a daily read for me.

I am mainly in love with her hairstyles (http://freelancersfashion.blogspot.com/search/label/hair). I love the victory rolls and big waves she manages to create using sponge/net bun rolls. She makes it look so easy!

Does anybody know where you can order these wonderful things online (preferably in/posts to Australia?). Also, do you think they would work on TBL hair? Her hair looks about BSL at longest, and thick. Mine is TBL and very fine and thin.

Has anybody here tried these kind of styles? If so, what were your results? I'd love to see some pictures!

The minnie mouse is adorable! I also like how she uses the orchids. Very classy. I personally don't have the patience for hair styles like that but she looks great.

If you want to learn how to make a "hair bow" and other fun styles there is a girl on youtube who does great, if you dont mind it being in another language, but she usualy puts up subtitles in english. Just search for binosusume . Hope that wasn't too off topic.

Wow. Thank you for introducing her to us! I loved the tutorials as well. I am going to try some of those very soon. I don't know where one would get those things in Australia but I wish you luck! Perhaps you could fashion your own rat using a sock? I bet it would be possible with a little creativity and some super glue! =)

I don't know where you can get the sponge rolls, though. My hair is similar to yours, and I've been able to do rolls like she does. it's just a matter of needing to roll more because your hair is longer.

I save hair to make those rats. I place the hair in a hairnet with a pipecleaner in the middle so I can get them to take a shape if I need to, then roll up the hairnet and sew it closed.

Lots of fun retro styles to try.

HeatherDazy you can do most retro styles way before you get to apl. Shoulder length and layered is period correct for the 1940's. There is a link to a pdf in this thread that you should check out. http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=26659 Look at post #6 for the pdf.

I've experimented a little with 40's/50's hairstyles, but I only have pictures of one of those hairstyles.

This one is quite simple, I just pincurled my hair, twisted and pinned up the hair at the sides, and rolled my bangs.

Hmmm, wonder if I could make one of these styles work with shoulder length hair?!?!?!

We have a formal wedding to attend in Nov. and I'm trying to figure out what the heck I'm gonna do with my hair! My gown is black and very straight, so a sleek look would be awesome but I know it's too short for a french twist. Any suggestions welcome!:)
