View Full Version : Hair Nightmares (literally)?

Has anyone ever had hair nightmares where someone cuts it or one willingly cuts it in a salon? I had a very disturbing nightmare last night where not only did I have my hair willingly cut into a bob, but I colored it brunette and loved it.

I kept getting compliments on how well the darker color brought out my eyes and I loved it.

Then in my dream I got sick of it. I could not style it and I kept pulling at the short stubs of hair. I tried wrapping the hair in a bun or around my head and crying and crying...

Weird huh? Has this happened to anyone else?

What do you suppose it means? Probably nothing. But yet...

I've had a few of these hair nightmares as well. My dream is exactly like yours, I'm sitting at the stylist's chair and before I can even say or do anything about it all my hair gets shorn off. I am powerless to stop this from happening, and then I can vividly remember "feeling" my newly cut hair.......its up to my chin and I can actually feel the back of my neck. I'll then just stand there mortified and in total shock. Every time I wake up to my messy bedhead locks, I'm always super relieved. I'll actually run my fingers over my hair and down the length just to literally see and feel that its still all there!

I used to have them alot in the past. I'd be at the salon for some odd reason getting my hair cut short and layered. When I woke up and found that it wasn't real I'd be so relieved. The strange thing is that I haven't had them since my latest growing out of my hair.

Yes!! I used to have those, but they stopped. My sister has them, too-- usually it involves a dream where we pick up scissors for some non-hair reason and mysteriously, inexplicably, tragically, shear gigantic, irreplaceable hanks of our hair off.

Back when I used to diet a lot, I used to get these nightmares about eating. One night I dreamed that I was leaning my entire upper body into a fridge, cramming creampuffs into my mouth when I realized, mouth full of pastry, "OH NO! I forgot I was on a diet and now I messed it all up!!"

I woke up in a cold sweat with my heart pounding, thought, "Oh thank God, I didn't mess up my diet!" and then realized that I had actually been GLAD that I hadn't eaten a creampuff. I stopped dieting on that day and have never gone back.

I had a hair nightmare the other night similar to yours Sha-na-na. I dreamt I cut my hair off into a bob and henna'ed it for the first time ever. It was really red too! I was in shock and horrified at what happened <in the dream> and when I woke up, I had to feel my hair to make sure it was all still greyish mousey brown and long!

I don't know what brings it on but ghesh! It's scary!

Looking at your picture, I don't think your hair is mousy! I think it's a pretty brown.

I do too! I always get really upset and am so happy when I wake up! It is a sense of relief.

Yes it happens to me now and then. I've never been attacked with scissors in a dream. I've just made a bad choice and gone up to shoulders or slightly above. I'm always still blonde. I don't think it means anything other than I spend way too much time and here and am way too obsessed with my hair.

Yes, I've had these. They usually involve my hair being dyed. In these dreams, I'm usually a passive participant, sort of screaming inside but going along with it. In my life, these dreams represent feelings of not being in control of my life or my self.

I have not had a real hair nightmare in the sense that someone comes and cuts is off or I have a bad experience in the salon, but it is a fear of mine that someone will so the day dreams about it are just as scary as the nightmares.

Yes I've had those dreams. Mostly I think they stem from when I was younger and I went in for a layered cut and walked out with a shaggy mullet. Absolutely horrible. No one, not even my mother listened to what I wanted to do with my hair.

I haven't had one of these yet, but I've had the opposite many times. I've often dreamed that my hair is a foot or two longer than in real life, and I'm stroking it gently, wondering how on earth it grew out so fast! Then I'd wake up and be sad that it wasn't true.

Strangely enough, I haven't had that dream once since I decided to grow it for real.

I have hair cut dreams but they are generally pleasant, as I am a former shortie who loves to cut her own hair. I especially love the feeling in the back when it's shaved off (bob hair cut.)

I had one where I cut it to chin-length myself in the bathroom. It was really cute...but I regretted it immediately! I was so happy to wake up and have my hair "back".

Candide, I've also had the eating dream -- I'll be eating something in my dream and suddenly realize halfway through that it's meat, which I haven't eaten in a year or two. It's a very weird experience!

My nightmare was the opposite of a cutting it cut nightmare.

I was sitting at the beach/park/snow (nature) and my hair was flowing around me beautifully. Then I get up to do my pilaties (because... I dream about exercising.) and went to put my hair in a ponytail, and IT WOULD NOT GO. Like at all. I kept trying, screaming, and it would not going up. It started getting really heavy and really hot, and evil. I woke up sweating with my husband laughing.

I am pretty sure it's because I hate my short hair so much, and just wanna be able to throw it up into something, but I can't, and I will be this way FOREVER

I once had a dream where some psycopath had attacked me and cut my hair really short. I woke up crying, and was totally freaked out until I realised that my hair was just like when I went to bed.

I dreamed a while back that my sister (who is not a fan of my long hair) cut my braid off at the nape of my neck. I woke up gasping & clutching at my braid to make sure it was still there. Scariest thing to happen to me in quite a while.
