Hi :D

So I am having a really hard time figuring out my hairtype ever since I switched to no cones, my hair has changed a lot!

I already know I have very fine hair and it isnt thin, my ponytail circumference is already 3" and I still have lots of hair to short to fit in the pony (dumb layers!). So Im not sure what that really means in thickness terms.

Here are some picks I took today after washing it, combing it and letting it airdry. Some of these pics are with flash and some are not, my har isnt this yellow in real life @_@ Dumb lightbulbs!

In terms of thickness, in order to be a ii/iii, your pony circumfrence needs to be right at 4 inches. A iii would be anything over 4 inches. So i would say you're a ii for now. You can always chang it later after your pony thickens up some more. :cheese:

I'd say you're typed properly--for now. Length can change a lot of things--you might end up being wavy when it's longer.

As for thickness, it's likely you're a ii/iii. If you can, make a "Pebbles" ponytail at the top of your head and measure the circumference of that to get an accurate measurement.

Cripes! My hair must be only a measly i if that then, seeing as I'm only 2" circumference....sigh... I though I was a i/ii I typed my hair as this on my Avatar because I know of other people that have even less thickness than me - their hair thickness must be less than i ???

Here's the link (http://archive.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=8954) to the classification guide.

i is >2", ii is 2"-4", so if your circumference is right at 2", that is right on the line and I think i/ii is correct.

And to the OP, your 1b/f/ii looks like a pretty good estimate for now; you might see more waves later or be better able to measure your thickness, but that's about as good as you can guess for now!

Oh thank you so much for that Roseate. I never saw that link when I typed my hair (not what you'd call a whiz when it comes to anything computer - but I am improving) :) I don't feel quite so depressed anymore! heh heh. :p

I can imagine that there is a huge difference in the amount of hair a 2" compared to 4" circumference would be though... and yet are they both classified as ii ? iii must be absolutely huge!!! Heh heh :)

Yet another update: I just went and measured my hair circumference again and I'm just over 2" YAY!!! So I have corrected my details from i/ii to ii :)

Yeah, ii has a pretty wide range. I think there's more of a range in ii than in i or iii, because not many folks are >1" or <5", so most i's and iii's are within about an inch of each other. But ii's can be two inches apart, and as you say, that's a big difference.

And yes, iii hair is kinda huge. I've lost things in mine! :p

A ii is anything between 2 and 4 inches. A i is anything below 2 inches. A 2 inch circumfrence could be a i/ii. A 4 inch circumfrence could be classified as a ii/iii. A iii is anything over 4 inch circumfrence.

It's hard for me to say, the layers are making it difficult to judge out. But you have gorgeous hair Maddy25 :)

Actually, I think it makes it easier. :D

1b hair has a tendency to flip out somewhat at shorter lengths, and layers would show that. Wavier hair tends to flip out more, but 1b hair just sort of juts out a bit, then gets straighter with length until it gets this like, body-wave thing, but not really any visible wave.

My sister's bangs do this, so she has to straighten them. She's about a 1b/f/m/ii, maybe a ii/iii without the bangs. The rest of her hair (which is pushing or at waist, I'm not sure) is just about pin straight, but has some body when she doesn't straighten it...which isn't often. UGH, yet still, no damage!

Thanks everyone for your help :) It is hard to tell with the layers, Im sorry. Im working ongetting rid of them. Its so weird, when I was using cones and blow frying my hair it was always so pin straight, but now that Ive stopped all that my hair have waveys all over, especially the front layers! Im excited to see if they will get wavier or straighter as it grows!
