So, I'll be wearing this dress:

but in the floor length option, in bordeaux (a deep purple.) I'm trying to figure out what to do with my hair- I've gotten pretty much zero feedback from the bride, and all the other bridesmaids have short hair.

Up, of course. I first considered getting ribbon to match the ribbon on the waist and doing a kind of grecian, top of the head thing, but it seems too daytime for this wedding - it's evening, and very bling-y.

So I need bling or feathers (like the feather thingee I posted in another thread) or something.

I'm trying to decide high, low, or side bun-a braid doesn't seem to go with the dress very well, but I'm open. Whatever I decide needs to have something around the face or show from the front or it's too severe with my narrow face.

I do have hotrollers and a marcel iron and I'm willing to use both.

Ideas?

How about a Gibson tuck, so there's volume at the back of the neck/head? You could accent that with feathers, and possibly marcel the front.

Whatever you're doing, make sure it isn't a lot more complicated/decorated than the bride.

Feathers?hmm
This could do the trick:but use feathers instead and I realize you can't see her hair and how's it's set up so maybe a nautilus bun or a braided bun(beehive?).

Why go up in the evening? No need to match hairdos! I would go down, with curls and perhaps a side comb with a purple flower in it...

Be different and show off. Your hair is amazing, and the occasion calls for drama.

Here's (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=31383) what I mean by feathers.

It does need to be up- it's most likely going to be very hot, and also the dress has a dramatic V back that should be shown. Also I don't want to deal with it all afternoon during pictures, I just want to do it once and be done with it.

Being fancier than the bride is NOT a problem- she's got more glitter on her than a disco ball. She also blows me off everytime I ask her, and just says "I can't wait to see what you come up with, I wish we all had 4 feet of hair to work with." So. I. Will.

Not a fan of french twists in general (they make your head look misshapen), and they tend to be far to severe on me. I need much more volume around my face. I've never been able to get a french tuck to work on me.

Here's my take:

Marcel the front to give softness around your face, some waves there. Bun the back so it's out of the way and off your neck and back. Not too high up, or from the front (in the pics) it will look like you have feathers growing out the top of your head! (Tweety bird??) ;) The feathers need not even be visible from a direct front view, as that's highly unlikely for photos or for just moving around. Plain hair-matching hairsticks or something that goes well with the feathers. Something really secure.

And practice, practice, practice. It would be so fun to whip that hair into the updo in 2 minutes flat with no mirror, including the placement of the feathers! :) You've got a golden opportunity to show the short-hairs how "hard" it is to deal with long hair! <g>

I'm with the sentiment on this one, I don't reckon you need to go the "feathers and bling" route just because everybody else is. So I'd vote for plain and simple (either loose with curls or up and sleek), with perhaps matching ribbon, or pretty comb, and nothing else...

That's a great dress, you're a pretty woman with great hair - what the hell else do you need :-)
