Another "am I at waist?" question & pic

Hi all,

I'm pretty sure I can call this waist-length, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm growing out layers and so have a rather dramatic V hemline, which I hate. Plus, my hair tends to be "wurly" at the very ends which makes it tough to judge how long it is. What length does this look like to you?

It looks like hip length to me. Your waist is the narrowest part, just above your hands, which looks to be a good 2-3 inches higher than your ends are.

Oh WOW!! I am shocked!

I'm having a hard time believing it could be nearly hip-length, that just doesn't seem possible! I should post another pic that shows more of my lower body so you can get a better idea...but yes, I guess at the longest part, it is definitely longer than waist. I really just wish I didn't have such a weird hemline, but thanks for the nice comments lapushka and jeno!

And because somebody sent me a message that I can't respond to (maybe because I don't have enough posts yet?) I will post the answers to their questions here.

I just wondered how long it took you to grow to the length you are at now?

I started at BSL about three years ago (I think!) It wasn't really a concerted effort to grow, I just basically got lazy. I don't think I really consciously made a decision to grow it until about a year or so ago.


While growing out, how often did you trim and how much did you take off each time you did trim?

I've had about one trim per year, taking off no more than 2-3 inches each time. My last trim was Nov 08.


Do you use any kind of oils or leave-in conditioners?

Occasionally I use jojoba or coconut oil on my ends only. I also sometimes use L'oreal Elvive Re-nutrition Night Serum (might be called something else outside of Europe) on the length & ends.


Are you cone-free?

I go back and forth. I went cone-free for a few months, using only organic products, but my hair seems to like a bit of coneyness so I rotate between no-cone and cone.


Do you color your hair?

My hair is naturally red, but I was also using chemical color up until about 6 months ago just for added "oomph" and shine. Now I use herbal color only (Henné Color brand).

Your length looks like "hip" to me, rather than waist. The shorter layers actually look like waist. It's very pretty! :flower:
