I'm not so good with updo's so I always make this one. I don't know if someone invented it yet.

Lazy bun movie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMvEoEOCXqw)

Make a ponytail and hold it tight with one hand

Grab the ponytail with your other hand and pull it tight
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a212/555Nikita/aLuiknotje003.jpg

Twist the tail under your thumb and other fingers and throw it to the other side.

Grab the tail and wind it like before until it's almost all wrapped up
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a212/555Nikita/aLuiknotje005.jpg

You can twist the end extra tight under the bun on your head for extra security
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a212/555Nikita/aLuiknotje006.jpg

And then you can insert the stick
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a212/555Nikita/aLuiknotje007.jpg

I insert the stick in the hole where my thumb was, pull the bun to my head and let the stick come out there and then it sits really tight and secure.

(And that's the moment where you are magically outside ;) )

I use the same configuration (one loop of hair with the rest of the hair winded up around the base) to do one of my favorite buns.

You know, I often see styles similar to this but not done the same way, and I think that there's just an amorphous blob of instructions for stuff like this where no one has actually gone and officially named it, or if they did it's just getting lost in the amorphous blob! This resembles a certain knot I know but the process is similar to a different amorphous updo... So basically, to respond to the comment about whether someone has invented this yet already, yes and no ;) It's just one of those updo's that's never going to be as distinct as, say, the log roll; because everyone is going to have a different way of doing it to get the same result, for the post part.

I like the teleportation. Nice bun!

I've actually been toying around with a similar idea recently. I think I'll try it your way.

Yep it's not that I invented something totally stunning new. But if it can help people...

*drifts in*

.....you know, doing that loop and then wind the tail around the base remainds me of a snare....you know, that you used to hang people up with...

Remke, that's my daily bun! :D I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that style. Nice to see it explained though!

I use a version of that bun, too. I've always thought of it as "easy bun". haha
