Any Ideas?

Hey everyone,

I'm knew here, but I've lurked for quite some time. I'm a guy with hair down to my shoulders, straight, fine/medium(I don't really know what type it is). Could someone please send me a link for the "hair typing descriptions"? I'd appreciate it.

All summer I've been mowing my families yards, they are disabled and can't really get out of the house to do much. Does anyone have any new or unique ways to pull your hair out of your face so the smaller ones from the top don't wrap around your eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, and tongue? haha. I usually pull my hair back in a pony tail, just recently I found out how to do a "multiple pony tail that starts at the top of the head and goes all of the way down the middle, which seems to be my preferance as of now. The coolest way that my hair has been done was, my friend's wife dutch braided my hair (like a warrior type mohawk, as I refer to it) It actually looked awesome and it help all of my hair in place, without getting in the way. But it's difficult for me to do those kinds of braids on myself, but I can do it on others (my last g/f taught me lol)

I'm up for any suggestions! Thanks to you All!! and peace out!

ETA: Dutch braid = Warrior Mohawk braid is awesome! I like French braids to keep my short front pieces out of my face, especially when I sleep. You can also use hairwraps (wide headbands) to keep stuff out of the way.

^ Hey thanks so much for your replies! Yeah the dutch/mohawk braid is actually awesome looking and I'm also part Cherokee, so a lot of people tell me that it fits my personality haha.

I looked at your picture on your personal page and your hair looks quite similar to my younger son's hair in length and texture. He's been growing his hair out for a little while now. I bought him a few buffs and they work pretty nicely for him.

Also, I didn't know there were that many acronyms in text typing!!! I mean I thought Cisco computer networking had everything beat, there were acronyms for acronyms. haha! I just now posted my classification type, thought I'm sure it's not very accurate.

I tried to classify mine. I think it's 1C, F/M, ii
I do have fine to somewhat medium texture, with some waviness, but not too wavy. it all depends how I wake up in the morning haha.

My younger son's hair isn't quite as strong and thick as yours. I would call him a 1b, F, i. His hair breaks easily so he has to be careful with it. This makes it harder to grow long if he isn't very careful with his hair. But I give him tips from LHC and he's happy to take them, especially since he is seeing the results are positive for him.

Thank you once again Silver & Gold! All three of those were great, I especially thought the one with the dragons was cool. I'm a big fan of dragons. Yeah I don't want something to scare anybody way, or something that would make people laugh either! :p haha. but those look great.

I'm really into guitars now, so lately I've been picking up shirts, pants, and other whatnot's that have guitar emblems on them.

Cloth headbands and bandannas are both really good for getting hair off the face and neck.

Now that my hair's long, I usually use them with a bun, but I'd use them solo when I had short (ear-length) hair.

Just wanted to say welcome :) Bandanas are great for guys at your length - they tend to look manly/outdoorsy and really keep hair out of your eyes when working. Keep practicing with the braids, pretty soon you'll be able to do it in your sleep. Half ponytails also do the job nicely.

^ Thank you both! I may run up to wallyworld tomorrow, and get a couple of them. Call me crazy (actually I have a horrible memory), but I've never thought about using bandannas, and yet I see a few people wearing them all of the time :doh:haha.

I don't do sun very well, so I always wear a hat with a brim. That helps to keep things out of my face.

However, to help tame those short around-the-face-hairs when I'm not wearing a hat I like double braids from an off-center part. Not sure that's a look a man would enjoy (double Mohawk? lol), but some of those neat little accent braids could work for you to tie them up. Maybe add a fun dangle or bead. I've seen silver buttons put on thin, metal-free bands, that can be used to tie off a braid or make a ponytail.
