I'm DYING to figure out how to do a gibson tuck with my tailbone length hair. Is it possible to do this style with long hair, or is it for those with shorter tresses?

Thanks for any help!

I've no idea, but I'm watching with interest-- I'd love to be able to do this one as well.

Hopefully someone will tell us how to do it! I've tried but my hair just falls out.

Where did I see something like that... :hmm: *ponders*

Anyway. I remember that it showed pulling the tail all the way through, repeatedly looping/topsy-ing it until it was all wound around the first tuck. You secure the ends with a pin/barrette whatever. It looks a little 40's vintage-ey. :)

I don't know how else to deal with the extra if you don't do the loops.

I did something like it with braids here:

This version was just a ponytail pulled through itself, then the braids were done and their ends tucked into the fold. You can see a tutorial on Torrin's youtube page. She does hers a little different than I did mine though.

As for the other tuck version with just the hair, it's not too hard to do. Here is a link to a tutorial on a historic hair site. The "Edwardian Twist" is similar to the Gibson tuck I think you are looking for: http://intimelyfashion.com/hair/edward1.html

Little Orca, that's gorgeous!

I tried that with the looping over and over, but my hair just wouldn't co-operate. Not sure if there is a special technique or if I'm just hair challenged. It's a style I could wear coaching, which is why I'm hoping to find a method of this before Sunday :)

This page from an old LHC thread also has people with long hair doing version of it.
