No product review at LHC, but I know people here use it. What do you think of it? Does it need conditioner afterward? I just bought Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap bar at the natural market in my neighborhood. Used it once, and though it got my scalp nice and clean, the rest of my hair was kind of oily. Very healthy, but oily. They had two tiers of Giovanni products right next to it, and I almost got the 50:50 shampoo because somewhere on here people were really talking it up. SO... why do you like it, and do you need a conditioner with it?

You may be talking about the 50/50 conditioner and direct leave-in. They are both very good and people like them a lot including me. I haven't heard that much about the shampoos although I think they are good as any non-sulfate types of shampoos. I can use a non-sulfate occasionally but I have to use one with sulfates and dilute it most of the time. I like the Giovanni shampoos for non-sulfate washes.
Giovanni has trial sizes now that you can buy at my health food store. It's a great way to try any product they make without buying a full sized bottle.

I use the 50/50 shampoo once in a while for CWC. It is very gentle on me, and sometimes I have to lather twice if I had a lot of oil on my head. I don't know if you could go without condish after, I always use conditioner.

Interesting. I actually find Giovanni shampoos are rather strong. I have to dilute them. I would recommend not skipping the conditioner. Giovanni's conditioners are the best I have ever used.

I have been using the shampoo and conditioner since I saw them at Costco for $10.79 for 33 oz and they are pump bottles too. :) I love the stuff and it smells so nice. A very little of the shampoo goes a very long way. It lathers like crazy and the conditioner is heaven in a bottle. My hennaed hair loves it. I always get very soft, conditioned hair that smells great.

I sometimes use the 50/50 shampoo and conditioner together. I find that the shampoo is very clarifying even though it doesn't contain sulfates. I can't use it more than once/week without getting major frizzies. It's great for removing heavy oilings though. The conditioner has been reformulated so it's no longer as natural. There IS a reviews section on LHC by the way LuXious.

I should have mentioned that I have pretty hard water now and have only been using the Giovanni since moving here. That may make a difference!

I didn't find 50/50 in the reviews. Maybe I just missed it. Anyway, I was without a computer the day after starting this thread so I couldn't read the replies. Just went ahead and bought the shampoo without the conditioner thinking I probably wouldn't need it since it's so natural and full of herbs and stuff that are good for hair. Well, Mahars, your hair and mine agree. I'm getting super frizz around my crown. My hair is past APL, but up at my crown, I have some Einstein hair. I've been playing with it whenever I'm near a mirror and making it stand straight up. It's hilarious. I think I'm keeping an extra layer of hair since caring for it better, which began when I started hennaing, exactly a year ago, because the overall volume is thicker plus I have all this extra hair that's about six inches long. Anyway, it's easily distinguishable because it looks like a halo of fire around my head. It sounds cool, but I just look kind of whacky. It started showing up when I got the 50/50 shampoo. Anyway... I'll be picking up that conditioner tomorrow. Thanks, all.

Don't get rid of the Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap.
It works great on itchy skin from bug bites
or poison ivy.
I've never used it on my hair.
I have the Giovanni Direct Leave In.
Great stuff!

OMG this made me laugh out loud! :D The image in my mind is just so funny! I call the shorter, new growth (or broken hairs?) near my temples and ears "Grandpa Munster hairs" and sometimes make them stand out to amuse my friends - they always crack up!
Let us know how you like the Giovanni 50:50 shampoo, LuXious. I am considering getting some, as well as the Direct Leave-In.

The TTO shampoo by Giovanni is really nice too. I like Giovanni CO as leave ins.

Before I started using CV bars, I used Giovanni s&c. My favorites were the 50:50 shampoo and condish, mostly the condish. I still use a bit of the 50:50 conditioner if my hair feels like it needs it. I do still use the Direct Leave-In on a regular basis. I dilute it down with distilled water and use it that way. I would definitely use a conditioner with the Giovanni shampoos.

I adore the Giovanni 50-50 shampoo and conditioner. I have scalp issues with build up of white gunk, so I also use the Giovanni Triple Tea Tree Treat shampoo. I alternate the two shampoos. I love, love, love the fullness and body I get from the shampoo and the conditioner does not overwhelm my fine, thin hair. These are my Holy Grail of hair care.

I really like the 50/50 shampoo. I have a very oily scalp, and this shampoo was very good at cutting through that. I mostly concentrate the shampoo at my scalp and not my hair, but I would say that if you have dry hair to start with, this shampoo could dry it further.
