As most of you have probably noticed, we have a "reviews" section here on LHC, (if you haven't, look at the middle-right-hand-side of that top bar >_o ) It is somewhat under-utilised, even though the threads all over the forum about various products and approaches suggest that LHCers are trying out and using hundreds of great interesting products.

It is very quick and easy to write a review, and that two, five, ten minutes you take over it can help build up the reviews section into a formiddable resource!

While it can never replace the discussion of products we enjoy on this forum, it could and should be a great quick reference, particularly for newbies (ahem, *raises sheepish hand*) to the sort of serious haircare LHC encourages and embodies.

The shampoos and conditioners sections aren't bad, and all the big faves are there, but what about oils and so on? A lot more of us use these sorts of products (or "products") than there are reviews for them.

So why not click over and have a look? Add your voice? It's only a minute, and it'll help out the rest of us -- particularly new users -- an awful lot.

Thanks for your time! XD

Oh yeah, I've checked that section out before. I also noticed it seemed a little short of reviews, compared to the number of people around here trying new, cool stuff!

Haven't ever left a review there, yet though. I tend to think I'm terrible at making a review, though. I'm super subjective when I write about products.

Thanks, Flynn! :D

I didn't even notice that section for about two years. LOL. I've left a few reviews, though. It's very interesting to read how a product can be disastrous for one person and great for another :)

Naah, it only needs to be a number rating and a couple of lines, and subjective is fine... "made my hair soft, but smells awful, 6/10" is just as helpful (if not more so) than a detached essay. It's about saying what worked for you, and what you personally thought.

I've checked it out it is very useful when trying to find a new product to try.

But it could be so much better... particularly for "less conventional" products (oils, herbs, etc).

Oh, good idea. Off to leave some reviews.

Yay! XD

Hahahaha, yeah.

Actually, the disaster reviews are really helpful, too: because they have a name associated with them, you can go and check out the reviewer's hairtype. Absolutely invaluable. What worked great for a straightie is quite likely not to for a curly, and likewise for coarsies versus fineys. >_o Though sometimes it does seem random...

So, yea. Bad reviews are just as important as good ones, people! *Laughs*

*Bounces up and down* C'moooon... If you've got time to post in threads, you've got time to write reviews...

They're quicker than posts: you don't have to read what anyone else has written!

Looking for Cocoa butter Review. There is not much to write about really. All it involves is: it keeps my hair clean, it is cheap, it is cone free. *shrug*

That is not a review worthy write up in my eyes.

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU Flynn!!!! :cheese: Gee do you think im excited? I was just going to post this exact thing the week my computer crashed! I love the reviews section but it is (or was havent checked out the new reviews yet :) ) incredibly lacking in the oils/EO/natural department. Alot of AO products havent been reviewed much less things like cassia and we have a HUGE cassia thread so there are plenty of users. I am so psyched to check it out now :eyebrows:. Thanks again for posting this and all of you for posting reviews! I just posted my first not to long ago and i plan to add after i give my two new conditioners a good try...and once my poo bars arrive....and...and.... lol :D

Whyever not? I'm sure all most people really want from a review here is "yep, it works. Nope, no weird build-up issues. Sweet bonus: it's cone-free!" ;p

*Laughs* Tha's cool. There are a lot more views on this thread than there are new reviews... I think people might be thinking it needs to be magazine-worthy when something like "it works" or "it leaves my hair (fine, straight) lank and greasy" is even more useful to most people...

Yep :). When im lookign at reviews im looking more at the over all like it ~ dont like it than specifics. Since i do natural it has to be cone free and sulfate free so those are really good to know but other than that a basic it built up, great softness, silky feeling, and such will do me just fine :). I added one to the general emu oil. Nothing spectacular as i havent experimented with it much but its there for the next person.

I really like the articles section but I never look at the reviews much.
It's all products I can't buy anyway or there are a lot of double reviews which say same exactly the same and add no new information or insight.
So, nope, I don't use it much.

Articles section however, fantastic!

Thanks for pointing this out!

Especially since over in the products forum we always get "Hey, has anyone tried X?" threads. Which would really be better off turned into reviews threads.

What would be good is a centralized "Hey, I just put up X product in the reviews section. Head on over if you've used it!" thread.

Speaking of which, I'm going to go start that thread.

Also, I've put up a bunch of stuff and reviewed things. Other people should too!
