View Full Version : I turned my Hawser Braid into a Hawser Loop

So with so many people around in the house today (Step dad having a family reunion for his family) I didn't want my hair down and in the way or a target for the over processed hair-harpies that are his family. I put it in a Hawser braid which did hide some of the length, but then I got bored and made this:

I'm calling it a Hawser Loop... I just took the braid and did a loop around the back of my head, almost like you would do a crown braid but not around the crown. I wrapped the ends around the staring point, pinned it in place, and added the leaf. Now my hair is away from the harpies' claws and up and off my shoulders on this nearly 100 degree day.

Very pretty, I'd like to see some shots without the leaf. That is a gorgeous barrette though, where did you get it?

No problem! Here is the loop without the leaf in the way. (The ends started to unravel without my noticing.)

I got the leaf from "Wing and Talon Leatherworks." They have an Etsy store here (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5495766), but he is on vacation at Faerie Worlds (and was at the Oregon Country Fair which is where I got mine) so there is only one barrette up at the moment.
