deep conditioning hair in need of washing

Has anyone ever deep conditioned his/her hair under a hooded dryer before washing it, even though his/her hair is in need of washing? I ask because I think putting a little heat on my head would soften my hair, making detangling easier.

I have tiny bits of conditioner in my hair that won't rinse out, you see; and detangling around them (the bits of conditioner) is difficult. I know heat would probably get rid of this problem, but I fear putting heat on hair that needs washing may damage the hair. :confused:
