There is lots of lovely long hair on this forum, but we know it didn't start out that way. We all started with shorter hair at some point in our lives, be in teen years, infancy, or other. I think it is somewhat inspirational to see the journey from shorter hair to longer hair, not matter what the final goal length is.

Let's see some collections of long hair journeys. Still a little confused as to what I mean? I'll start to give you an idea.

You don't have to go back as far as I did, but it reminded me of how long I have come. :) I also have to remember all the big trims to keep me from whining about other's hair growing faster. :D Let's see yours!

I don't have enough pictures to make a really amazing chart yet, but yours was awesome! Thank you for posting that. :D

Oh.

When I saw "growth chart" my mind snapped to my Excel spreadsheets and graphs... I'm a little bit ... extreme about tracking my growth, I think. :D

He he... I don't know if I could find that many pictures. Mabye some will turn up while I'm cleaning the house...

(Your harps are beautiful as ever, BTW)

I thought it was just me who thought that.

I've worn updos pretty much my whole life (thanks Mum, getting me on the straight and narrow) so I don't think I have any decent photos to show even if I did find them!

This is just from January 2004 after the Boot Camp Chop...

I've had long hair almost my whole life. In high school I had almost-hip-length hair, then cut it to above waist before I left for college. It went from BSL to shoulder to waist to BSL a few times, but was waist-length again when I had it cut in 2004.

In February or March of 2008 I had about 6 inches cut off.

I'll give this ancient post a bump. Do you have favorite growth charts and tracking spreadsheets?

I have grown to love spreadsheets to track other personal goals and am interested in the potential to track hair.

I’ll add to the bump - does anyone have an app to recommend? I’m a sucker for iPhone apps, and the hair growth journey sounds like the sort of thing that could be documented in one.

I haven't fully started using this one for tracking hair growth, but I use Notion (notion.so) for a lot of other things and plan on using it to keep a hair journal.
So far, the only actual way I was able to see how my hair has grown is through random photos is my gallery.

curiouscat13 oh neat, Notion is super obscure - I got really into it a while back and then switched back to Evernote.

What format do you think you'll use to track?

For now I have created a template that'll help me record how I washed my hair and how it feels, with the option to add photos and hair length. I haven't tried growing my hair before, so I don't know what other things I'll need.
I'll probably add to it as I go along and learn more.

I'm measuring my hair monthly to figure out how fast it grows, and I just use an excel spreadsheet. :) (Might move it to google sheets later, though.)

I use a free app called Easy Graph and record when I measure, if I change something in my routine or if there is a major life event that could cause stress etc.

It's quick and easy, and the chart can be zoomed in on for more detail or looked at zoomed out to see just how much progress you have made!
