View Full Version : The red is gone!

I've been itching to get rid of my red hair for over a month now. The shade looked good in pictures, but in real life (especially as it faded) just made me look sallow and it didn't go with any of the makeup I owned.

So, after extensive research and much consultation (okay, I only asked Manderly) I decided to brave going brown.

Here's before:

And le after.

It still looks reddish in pictures, but in real life it's a lot ashier. I'd take pictures outdoors, but right now (and for the rest of the summer) it looks like the set of Twilight outside.

ETA: It also looks shorter because it's freshly washed. :p I didn't trim or anything silly like that.

ETA again: Okay, outdoor picture.

Exquisite! You look luminous and it really brings out the color of your eyes. What did you use? Your hair looks so shiny!

L'Oreal Preference in Dark Brown. Thank you!

Thank you! And fun fact: Ashley Johnson, who plays Alex in What Women Want, also voiced a character called Emily on King of the Hill. My name is Emily. Oh, IMDB. :p How I love thee.

Pretty pretty! I love that rich brown color.

Out of curiosity, what was the red? Was it from henna, or a box?

It was henna from Lush, which was actually dyed over a chemical red. Unfortunately, their color isn't that great after you use it for a while.

And thank you everyone! :flower:

Wow! The darker color you have now is much richer and vibrant, and you can still very clearly see the red undertones you had before! Now just make sure you keep up with your deep conditioning treatments, you want to make sure that your hair still stays as healthy as possible especially with all the color that you have been doing! :)

 BWAHAHHAHAHHA.

It looks great :) Mine still flashes orange/red in sun/flash, but it did seem to fade down even more after more dying :)

I like the color on you. :cheese:

Thank you everyone! :D I'm going to do a strand test later and see if I can achieve the same shade with henndigo, but I find it a lot easier to transition between colors (and I do, like MAD) if I use a series of demi perms or permanents and then use a henna over that.

Thanks, again!

(And you know, the color wouldn't have taken nearly as well if my hair wasn't in such good condition; thanks to YOU fancy, wonderful people! Hiphiphurray for the LHC!)

It still looks a bit red but the camera WILL do that... I still get it from my Manic Panic.. but you have to turn the flash off to get the current color to show up better... anyways your hair looks nice and the new color looks good...

I think it looks great, even though the red didn't seem to look that bad. But yeah, the brown looks very nice with everything, I hope your make-up matches it, hee ^_^
