1) big heads :D

2) to wear with a bun, ponytail.

Suggestions?

I thought I'd start trying a hairband with my buns because I noticed that with my hair all pulling back, my face looks downright manly! I need some "poof" and not sure how to accomplish that and thought "hairband". That probably means plastic ones to hold the position and I'm not so wild about them because of point #1 :D

I don't want to try combs because I've never had luck with those. I think the sides of my head must be flat LOL because the curve of combs means they always stick me.

Hmm, I would think you would have to try the metal headbands that can be adjusted to fit your head. Good excuse to visit the Ficcare site! (http://www.ficcare.com/Collections.aspx?catId=11) :)

Doi! I just flipped over their a few minutes ago and saw "one size" so moved on. Never thought of bending them !!

I guess I have to go back :D

I don't know if it will help with #2, but I am partial to cloth headbands. I have many from This is J (http://www.thisisj.com/store/index.php?l=product_list&c=1) that I bought on CurlMart. I like the patterns on them, and they seem to hold up well. I've had a couple of them for almost 3 years, and they are doing fine.

I have a 24 inch (61 cm) head circumference (not counting hair), so the u shaped headbands are often headache inducing. Or, I just break them.

You can see some in action here (http://public.fotki.com/redcelticculrs/this-is-j-headbands/) if you like. PW is rcc

How adjustable are these? Have any bigheads here used them successfully? They are quite pretty.

HAHA, I couldn't resist! I've always meant to measure my head! :D

I'm 24-1/4"! Most headbands that go over the top of the head often pop straight off, and the cloth ones tend to shoot off the back of my head! Do the ones on that website stay put? I noticed they say "one size" which usually translates as "for little wee heads". :)

Thanks for sharing the action shots!

You're welcome fellow bighead! :)

They stay in place for me for the most part. I do have one that is a smidge tight. If I am careful in placement with updos, they stay in place. If my hair is down, they stay in place better since they have all that hair on them, lol.

They have slight variations in size, it seems.

I wear a size 8 hat and I recommend Vidal Sassoon No Headache headbands (http://www.amazon.com/Vidal-Sassoon-VS14434-Headache-Headbands/dp/B0002YE8WA). They're so comfortable that I end up forgetting that I have one on - until I climb in the shower and try to shampoo my hair (what's really embarrassing is how many times this has happened to me).

You can get them from Amazon. I've also found them at Walgreens and Walmart.

i sometimes bobby pin the sides of cloth headbands to stop them sliding around
you could get lengths of material/scarves and tie them around your head too
