View Full Version : And today, I sit with bleach on my head.

I feel so arrogant having two topics about my hair in this forum, but I thought some might be interested.

So I decided to say 'screw it all' and bleach the whole damn thing.

...XD; Not. I'm bleaching two strands in the front, as I stated in another thread I made, oh, two weeks-a month ago?

Anyway, I let my hair soak overnight with a TON TON TON of coconut oil (might as well see if it helps) and already did some test hairballs the night before. I'll post pictures as I dye! I'm doing the bleach, then a two step with henna and manic panic. Wish me luck!

Edit: First photo, after 50 min. of bleaching. Ignore the fact that I look awful and need to shave. xD;

^^^I disagree. I think the warm golden tone works for you (although I understand a pic often looks different than real life). You are going for more red with the henna though, right? I think that will look awesome!!!

*Sighs* Why can't henna make my hair violet? That would be ideal... :laugh:

My dear, you are incapable of looking awful. You have some of the most beautiful skin I have ever seen...and great big doe eyes. Such a pretty boy (and I can call you a boy because I'm old...even when you're 40 you'll still be a boy to me ;) ). I have such a thing for pretty boys...probably because I'm an old married chick. LOL. I can't wait to see the red. I have to live vicariously through those of you that have the guts to go awesome colors...I'm too wimpy.

Camera flash hides the fact that my skin is god-awful at the moment. Acne issues. D: But thank you.

I'll wash the henna off in an hour, then, depending on the color, I'll dye a second time with MP.

Honestly I quite liked your natural color(I'm assuming that's your natural color unless that was an all over color that you did before?). I really do hate the highlighted blonde bimbo look that Hollywood and the rest of society pushes on us as "beautiful". To me dark, rich, shiny locks are the epitome of health.

Well...I'm not a bimbo. Nor am I blonde. xD And no, that really wasn't my natural color; it's been hennaed several times.

Nor are all highlighted blondes bimbos, or even influenced by Hollywood. And there's nothing wrong with being a highlighted and/or "fake" blonde.

Okay, I've washed off the henna/MP mix, and uh...I'm not exactly sure WHAT the color is at the moment. I'm fairly certan I'm going to have to go through and dye with the MP, but it isn't dry yet so I dunno.

@Starr and Coriander: You'll get them. xD When it's dry and after I dye with the Manic again...if I dye with the manic again.

Ooh, I want to see the end results! You're adorable btw ;)

I'm very tempted to slather my entire head with Special Effects blood red. I have half a bottle sitting around from last time I did it almost a year ago >.>

GlassEyes
July 3rd, 2009, 02:15 PM
Oh my god, don't even come IN here mentioning that color, because I'll tell you to do it. I LOVE Blood Red. So freaking MUCH. ARGH.

Actually, I love most SE colors.

It's what I was originally going to dye my hair with, but I'd have to go to Newbury's to get it, or order online, and I, quite frankly, have no patience.

kwaniesiam
July 3rd, 2009, 02:22 PM
:lol: True dat :D I have a half jar of MP vampire red too but it just doesn't compare. I think I'm going to tonight, my hair is weird. That stuff completely washes away in about a month, leaving no trace behind plus I've done it before so I know it will work for me.

GlassEyes
July 3rd, 2009, 02:24 PM
Manic Panic doesn't compare at ALL.

I'm probably going to go out and get some Blood red if the MP doesn't take--which it didn't in the henna mix, though I shouldn't be surprised. I currently have two pumpkin colored strands framing my face.

I feel awkward because I really, really like them, actually. o-o;;

Won't the pumpkin color oxidize? You've just used henna so far, right?
I actually really like that color. I wish I could have it all over my head.

I used both Special Effects and Manic Panic on my hair, and they stayed pretty well. I just recently overdyed my henna with "Color Jamz". It was like $6 and still lingering a couple months later. I was surprised that it worked so well, considering it cost half as much.

I'm eagerly awaiting the final product!

GlassEyes
July 3rd, 2009, 09:26 PM
Yeah, the orange will oxidize--thus making whatever the end result is darker.

I'm okay with that, because normally the color goes from being bozo clown orange to something richer. Either way, what's done is done, and I won't be bleaching again. xD;

I love that color.

Do your curls tend to reform the same way for the most part? I had wondered if you'll get a few strands here and there in neighboring curls.

Mine form up in a fairly similar "clump pattern" with variances in tightness or looseness of the curl, but I realize everyone is different.

Seeing your pic so close to my sig pic, I thought of how close your color is to mine - on my computer anyway, lol.o-o Mine too. They are quite similar.

Also, I have to separate the strands from the rest of my curls. It's a pain, so I may have to dye more. I'm not going to think about that until my roots start showing, however.

Also, update pending. Hair drying.

However, here's a 'this dried in my crappy bun at the beach' picture from when I got home at 2:00 this morning. It's not -terribly- color accurate, but close.

And yes, it they are almost the same color as the shirt, but a bit more pink-toned in real life. Also, excuse the hard-looking hair. I'm experimenting with gel over KCCC and I went a -little- overboard.

I like the shade of red. It reminds me of really bright Merlot. The curls look fabulous.
