I was wondering what you use to mix your henna in. When I did my henna gloss I did it in a metal bowl but I've seen a lot of people talking about doing it in glass bowls. Are metal or plastic bowls a no no?

As long as it is pure, BAQ henna, you can mix it in anything you like. I used to use a cheapie plastic bowl I picked up just for mixing henna, but I also used a stainless bowl a couple of times and a glass bowl, once. Anything works. :D

I was always told to use plastic, glass or wood. So I used to use a plastic or glass bowl and a wooden spoon. It was even mentioned on the henna packages I had many years ago, to never use metal; I can't remember what brand it was, though.

It was probably a henna mix type product that contained metallic salts or something. :)
Pure henna is non reactive and it is safe around metal. In addition to mixing it in a metal bowl a couple of times, I routinely mixed my henna with my hand mixer, got it on my stainless steel sinks and wrapped my hair in aluminum foil when wearing my henna. Never, ever saw any kind of reaction including discolouration, pitting or staining. :D

I always use a plastic bowl. Used to use a wooden spoon, but then I stopped bothering and just used the stainless steel spoon I'd used to measure out the henna. It's pure plant, there are no problems. ;)

I use a plastic bowl, stainless steel spoon for measuring and a toothbrush for mixing and applying my henndigo. The toothbrush works great!

I just get so confused about everything, so because I heard about this metal no no thing, I only use ceramic bowls.

I just came back from watching Star Trek with my DBF and on the way home we picked up a big plastic bowl for my henna. IF everything works out I should be doing my first henndigo tomorrow

Good luck! It's messy and a pain in the butt, but I think you'll like it :]

Large ziploc. Dump in the powder, then slowly add some liquid, zip, squish to mix, open, add more liquid, and repeat until the consistency I want is reached. Then I cut a corner and use it like a piping bag.

I use a cheap plastic bowl, plastic spoon, and just apply it with gloved hands. No problems so far (the henna did dye the bowl, so you may want a bowl thats for mixing henna only)

I mix in chamomile tea and any other goodies I feel like tossing in there like EO's, oils, etc.

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try this today!
I've also read on LHC about not using metal, so I use a glass bowl and silicone spatula :)
