View Full Version : Trim update (with pics, of course)

So I finally got the trim that I've been agonizing about for months now....and I'm SO glad I did it. It was pretty big, 3.5" or so, but very much needed. You couldn't really see the damage, but those last inches were splitty, very dry and constantly tangling. Kind of depressing to get to waist (after almost two years of growing) only to trim back to BSL, but meh, it'll grow. I'll be back to waist by the end of the year, and to my final goal of hip in a little over one year. I think its safe to say that I've definitely gotten past the "length mania" that so many of us go through the first year or two here.

So, on to pictures! The first one is my hair a couple of days ago - photographic evidence that waist is possible for me!

This one is post trim. My ends are SO thick and healthy now...no taper and no breakage. I'm so glad I did this. My head is tilted slightly forward in this, but I am still solidly at lower BSL.

Sorry for the crazy big pictures - photobucket was being difficult, so mods feel free to resize if needed :)

Your hair is absolutely beautiful! If you hair was split and dry beforehand, it's thick and wavy enough to hide it! But I'm sure you feel better now that the damaged ends are off.

Wow, thanks so much for all the sweet comments!:smooch: :flowers: I'm really pleased with the color as well, and now have a really hard time understanding why I felt the need to highlight before. I really can't see a difference in color between my virgin and highlighted parts. The virgin part is so much shinier though :)

I can't tell you how nice it was to wash my hair this morning and only lose 1/4 of what I was pulling out before. There were no tangles when I was combing it out, and it hardly frizzed at all today with minimal leave in. I'm SO happy with it. I guess I'm just not the type who can deal with damaged ends for long periods of time. I'd rather trim frequently and enjoy my hair down than have it up constantly to try to forget about the damage.

Awesome :D I intend to do that to my hair too....I'm just waiting a little longer before I hack a bunch off. I'm sure I'll be just as happy as you are with the outcome. It looks lovely :crush:

That's awesome! Your hair looks great either way, but the benefits of less tangles and shedding are huge. It'll be fun to see it there again.

Thanks for posting - I had some framing whisps trimmed today (pictures tomorrow... maybe... LOL!) that I'm not super happy with, so I needed to hear your positive outlook. :D

You're right! Your hair looks so gorgeous at BSL. It's going to be awesome when you hit waist this next time. :)
