View Full Version : Anyone else here love VO5?

Hi all! I was just wondering if anyone else here loves VO5? Here are a few reasons why I love it so much...
1) 'Cone free ;)
2) Smells great!
3) So many to choose from
4) Inexpensive
I have tried natural products to like Bert's Bees (which I also like) but I don't think many other conditioners have quite as many advantages as VO5.

I love the passionfruit smoothie and the melon smoothie VO5's. CO with them enough, and your hair reeks of those fragrances (in a good way). I love it.

I do! :) Strawberrys and Cream is my absolute favourite . It smells almost edible. I just wish we had more variety here in New Zealand, we only seem to have Strawberrys and Cream, Kiwi and Free Me Freesia :(

Strawberries and Cream is the only conditioner I use. (Still wish they hadn't deleted Sun-kissed Raspberry.) Like AnnaMarie, I also wish we had more 'flavours' in NZ!

'nother V05 (well, Alberto Balsam here in CAN) lover here :D . I love it to CO with, not thick enough to use as a CONDITIONER conditioner for me, but I like washing with it on my CO days. Suave rocks socks too, that one is conditioning enough for me to use on my crown :)

Sorry, I have just had terrible results with VO5. It is too thin and watered down to do ANYTHING for my thick, coarse hair. Suave and White Rain on the other hand are thick and creamy enough to fully saturate and moisturize my strands and hence I use both these brands.

In Canada I think they're called 'Alberto V05' and I think most of them (or all?) have cones...
I love V05 because it's cheap (and my hair/scalp doesn't like Suave much).
I do wish the blackberry flavour would make it's way here (Stupid middle of nowheresville....), it sounds lovely...

I love the VO5 champagne kiss, it is divine. And there Oasis one too, in Lavender and chamomile, it's a great travel conditioner. I haven't found any others I like yet. ;)

VO5 is both cheap and do-able for pre-conditioning. The ones I usually get are Strawberries & Cream, and Passion Fruit Smoothie made with soy milk; whatever that means in terms of hair benefits.

VO5 Champagne Kiss rocks my happy little world. I like it for CO, a base for deep treatments, the first conditioner in CWC and as a basic, lightweight conditioner if I am not coneheading, that day. Plus it just smells yummy. :D

OOOHHH, blackberry is a very nice one! Our dollar store only has a couple kinds but our Family Fare(grocery store) has BILLIONS of kinds of VO5. I just about sank to my knees in the shampoo isle and thanked the conditioner gods.
I like blackberry, chamomile tea, vanilla mint tea, ok I love them all pretty much. Except Free Me Freesia, it's the only one I'm not crazy about but I'm willing to give it another chance!:cheese:

I like Vo5! My favorite kinds are the Moisture Milks Passion Fruit and the Kiwi Lime Clarifying. When I have to buy budget, this is usually what I will go for. DBF also likes the Kiwi Lime.

Same here. I love the smell of VO5 though. But I've gone back to using White Rain, which is just as cheap as the other brands. I use one that's called Ocean something. It's bright, bright blue—like cotton candy blue—and smells wonderful. WR is also cone-free.

I like VO5 and Suave equally well :) I love the Sun Kissed Raspberries best of the VO5 scents :) I don't have too many choices with the scents, but that one I love. I would like to find the Champagne one though...

I've heard so many great things about the V05 and couldn't find it around here, till I went to our local Ocean State Job lot (One of those overstock stores?) Well they had a TON of those moisture milk passion fruit condish's for a dollar each!:cheese:
the cashier definitely looked at me funny. I'm waiting for my Suave to run out but I can't wait to try it! New Englanders, check your Ocean State if you haven't found any!

I love V05. I'm really liking the Tea Therapy conditioners. I've been using the Calming Chamomile conditioner and just found the Blackberry Sage Tea conditioner. I still haven't tried Strawberries & Cream--I usually think strawberry conditioners smell fake. But the good thing about V05 is that it's so cheap it doesn't matter much if you buy one you don't like! You can just use it to shave.

I'm thinking about switching to V05 from Suave because I'm trying to get away from chlorides. The Suave conditioners have a lot of Cetrimonium Chloride, which raises the cuticle and isn't doing me any favors, LOL! It looks like the Kiwi V05 has a chloride pretty low on the list... does anyone else have a favorite V05 with little/no chlorides? :flower:

I hate that darn Vanilla Mint one. The Blackberry Sage one isn't too bad though.

I use VO5 when I run out of Suave! I love the smell of the clarifying ones...I do like all the ones I have tried ( had trouble finding Suave coconut naturals for a while) except the Volumizing ones...my hair doesn't like those at all. It gets stringy and clumped up and doesn't look volumized, just looks awful.

I love a lot of the VO5's as CO conditioners. They are light and cleanse well and most of them smell wonderful. I'm not fond of KLS. Go figure because I love lime in other things. VO5 conditioners aren't rich enough for me to use as a second conditioner or after using shampoo but they are great for CO washing.

Yes, I love me some VO5. I think I might like it a little better than Suave, still, which I have recently rediscovered. The only White Rain I tried, I hated it. It was the Tropical Coconut. Dried, tangly hair. Ick.

I really like their Kiwi Lime Squeeze clarifying conditioner, it's a bit runny but it works very well as a CO scalp conditioner. When I use it on the length of my hair it takes a lot to work, but it always leaves a nice shine. Smells great, and it's cheap, too!

I like it. I don't really enjoy smelling like food though, so I'm kind of "meh" on the smells. My husband says I smell like jr. high. I like herbal smells more than fruity/foody ones. I use it for the first C in CWC, and for the W. But I'm still needing something more for the second "C", thinking about trying suave.

Strawberries and Cream smells wonderful, but my hair hates it. I use it for other things though just for the smell and occasionally on the ends if my hair gets dry and wants a bit of protein. I also really like the Chamomile kind, its hard to find but when I do I stock up a bit.

I saw some interesting Canadian Alberto shampoos and conditioners in Big Lots (US) here today-- "Alberto European" in light blue bottles. Anyone else seen/used it? They had one for curly hair, one for smoothing, and one for normal hair.

I just went conditioner shopping and found a VO5 sale :D 25cents off per bottle and they were 79 cents to start with woo!!
I got my first bottle of the Strawberries and Cream moisture milk one and I am in LOVE. I hugged the bottle in the shower. haha! I just have to be careful of the protein. I can already tell that it feels a little different because of it, but I loved using it. It was so thick compared to the Sun Kissed Raspberries.

I think that I am becoming a hoarder. I bought out every bottle of the Clarifying Vanilla Mint Tea at my local CVS. My hair loves it and the scent is just divine. I think I now I have eight bottles underneath my counter.
This is going to sound crazy, but when I use henna I use this conditioner to rinse outside with a hose. I have found that most of the henna is rinsed out if I use around 3/4 of a bottle and that I can go back inside and use my regular shower without getting a ton of henna crud in the tub. It is cheap and works great as a co-wash. :)

I used to use V05 exclusively, until I realized I am allergic to the fragrance in it. :( I used it for years, because it was cheap and effective. Now, I get a severely dry scalp and have figured out that it's the synthetic fragrances that are giving me grief. I sure miss them though.
I didn't have trouble with the older, thicker versions, but the new thin/ runny versions make my whole scalp dry and awful.
I did love V05, I miss it now. I think if I was lucky enough to find the real thick older styles, I could still use that version, sniff sniff.

I do.
My favorite first condish for CO is VO5 Kiwi & Lime Squeeze. If I'm in a hurry, I use the Chamomile Tea Therapy one and just do one condish with a good scrub and a longish soak. Afterwards, a little oil on my damp hair and I'm good to go.

Heh, I was at Kroger just a little while to get some stuff for lunch, and I bought a bottle of Kiwi Lime Squeeze. I just want to see what some folks are raving about. Nevermind the bottle of Blackberry Sage that's waiting in the cupboard!
V05 conditioners were on sale 10 for $10. I was sorely tempted, but just bought one.

Gee!
I am so allergic to VO5! I thought it was just the flavor I had picked - but today I tried another flavor Strawberries and Cream - and even though the smell didn't bother me at the store - which happens often - I love the smell actually, smells like Nestles Quick - my head started stinging while I was washing and then itching - and by the time I had finished my ears were burning and my scalp was stinging and itching and I had to immediately wash with a poo bar. :(
So far the only cheap conditioner I have found I am not allergic to is Suave Tropical Coconut and that builds up on my hair. Sigh...

I always keep a bottle of Vanilla Mint Tea conditioner around - it's good for when I want to do a CO wash, and I also use it to "soften up" my Queen Helene Mint Julep shampoo mix - it keeps it from being overly stripping. Lately, I've been using it on the bulk of my length. Right now, I'm on my third or fourth bottle of it. I'd like to try the blackberry sage tea one, too.
The Kiwi Lime Squeeze was ok, too, but it made my scalp a bit itchy.
Sun Kissed Raspberry was the other one I tried - it smelled a bit too strong for me, though.
I used Suave once - daily clarifying. It was torture trying to finish that bottle - it smelled so bad.

VO5 rocks! I go through oodles of conditioner, and used to spend way too much on store-brand Pantene. When I went cone-free, I discovered to my great pleasure that cheap conditioner is just as good!
I'd still like to find a cheap, easy, all-natural alternative to conditioner, though. Nothing I've tried has worked very well.
I like sun-kissed raspberry and the pomegranate kind. I'm afraid I don't love the kiwi lime squeeze. To me it kind of...stinks.

I love VO5 for CO washing my hair. It leaves my hair clean and well moisturized. My only complaint about VO5 is that it has such a strong smell. I don't really care for most of the scents, they are kind of overpowering. Sun-Kissed Raspberry is o.k. and I like the Vanilla Mint one, but the others I have tried are way too strong. And its so inexpensive, less than a dollar almost everywhere I go.

I used V05 all the time when I was little, until I discovered coney products and they made my hair softer and smoother. I think the first one I tried was Finesse. Do they still make that? When I was 14, I had forgetten the V05 at home when I went on a trip with my youth group, and ended up buying "fancier" shampoo at the store. After that, the V05 felt like garbage, probably because my hair was slicked up with cones. I became a shampoo snob and made my parents buy the more exspensive, coney stuff.
Now that I'm going no cones, I've been trying different conditioners, including V05. The Free Me Fresia didn't work too well at all, but I tried the Blackberry Sage Tea yesterday and my hair enjoyed it.
My local Walmart & Walgreens no longer sell VO5. :( And CVS and Shaw's had a lame selection. Stop & Shop has a decent number of choices but Big Y is the only place I can get Champagne Kisses.
My local Walmart also stopped carrying V05, among other brands  If you have a Wegmans, mine still carries it, although there isn't a big selection. I don't know where you live, but we have Weis Markets around here in PA, and they have a great selection of V05. I was very pleased with all the scents.

Reviving this OLD thread to say, Yes, I do love Vo5 shampoo and conditioner! I'm a new convert. :p
Suave Essentials Juicy Green Apple has been my HG set for the past three years, but they changed their formula this past year. And this new formula is a "no go" for my hair. They even changed the scent! :(
So, I decided to try Vo5 again, because my fine, flat hair needs a daily wash with a strong sulfate shampoo or it goes limp. In the past, I've always found the Vo5 shampoos to be too drying for my liking. I bought the yummy scented Strawberries and Cream scent and tried it out as-is. It was still a little too drying, so I added a "little" vegetable glycerin to the shampoo. It made such a difference. I am so thrilled with the results. I like a light conditioner, so I didn't tweek it. I think I may just have a new HG set, and it's only 78 cents a bottle!
Anyone else around still using Vo5? I know lots of people here uses the conditioner for CO, but what about the shampoo AND conditioner?
Thanks to Suave's changes, I have rediscovered Vo5. Thanks Suave, you did me a great favor! :waving:

I haven't tried Vo5, but I'm thinking at such a low price I'm going to have to! I'm a slave to Suave conditioner, I use a SheaMoisture shampoo because I like to keep it sulfate free, but strawberries and cream? I'm going to HAVE to try it out! SO I might soon be a Vo5 convert!

Its funny, VO5 its been on my mind for the last days.
When I first moved to the US 9 years ago (and was not obsessed with my hair) VO5 was the first shampoo I used and I used for months with good results, I loved the variety of colors, scents and flavors lol VO5 has, but then I started buying expensive shampoos because I "discovered" hair care lol and stopped using VO5 because in my mind it was cheap which meant not good. What I forgot is that I always had good results with it and it was the time when my hair was the longest!
So I have been thinking about going back to VO5, and I saw on youtube somebody giving a review on the VO5 "sulfate free" WHATS?! Its supposed to be at walmart, I will see if I can find it.

So I have been thinking about going back to VO5, and I saw on youtube somebody giving a review on the VO5 "sulfate free" WHATS?! Its supposed to be at walmart, I will see if I can find it.
*cut to me frantically googling vo5 sulfate free shampoo* it seems to be discontinued :( and all their other shampoos I see list sulfates. Alas! Back to the drawing board.

I've only tried the Strawberries and Cream shampoo. It smelled great but I felt like it left behind some kind of residue. It made my scalp start to itch. Very strange. Not sure what ingredient it could have been; maybe all the natural extracts? Did this happen to anyone else? Are all the shampoos the same formula?
I'm disappointed to hear about the Suave green apple. Now THAT smelled great! Tbh Suave shampoos have also been making me itch a bit.
But VO5 is soo cheap I want it to work so bad lol

I don't think all the Vo5 shampoos are the same. I know the Kiwi Lime Clarifying shampoo dries my hair out more than the others. I currently have three different scents of the shampoo: Strawberries and Cream, Blackberry Sage, and Extra Body, and seem to have about the same results with all three.
Do you think it might be some other hair product you use since both Suave and Vo5 are causing the same problem? I hope you work it out and find one of the yummy scented Vo5's that you can use. :)

I believe it's the shampoos. My scalp is pretty sensitive so anything too moisturizing or leaves some kind of residue generally leads to itching within a couple uses. I don't use anything else on my scalp or roots. BUT I might still try the Kiwi Lime one since it's clarifying. For the price it's definitely worth a shot lol

Looking at their current flavors, I guess Freesia is the most similar if only because it's floral rather than fruity, but I think I have smelled it and was not overwhelmed. On the other hand, the ocean scent looks interesting.

I own their Kiwi & Lime Clariying Conditioner and The Passionfruit Smoothie Conditioner. They don't work best for me to co-wash with, but they're good to use in place of my expensive conditioners, when I'm trying to stretch them. The PassionFruit Smoothie smells like absolute heaven, I must say! At my local Walmart, VO5 conditioners always sell out super quick, as lots of people love to buy them in bulk, because they're so cheap! Whenever I buy them, I do the exact same thing too!
I don't think I've ever used any of their shampoos in my hair before. But, in regards to the shampoos that they have out now, I don't buy them, because I don't use shampoo on my hair anymore at all. They dry my hair and scalp out too much, no matter if their cheapie or expensive ones, sulfate free or not.

I love Vo5 too! Growing up we always had it because it was the most affordable but now I enjoy keeping a few bottles around. Currently I'm using the raspberry scent, kiwi lime, and passionfruit smoothie.
I looked at their website and discovered that they have a few new varieties. Avocado cream and a detox formula. Has anyone tried the new types?

I don't "love" it, but it meets my needs: cheap and no animal testing. So I use their conditioners for the first "C" of my CWC (or to get oil out of my hair), and their shampoos for a shampoo with sulfates (which gets my hair cleaner when it really needs it than no-sulfates).

I am so impressed that you can make yourself wait until you use up some of your stash first. When I buy a new product, I can't wait until I can use it. I'm kind of like a kid with candy.
I was at CVS yesterday and saw (and sniffed) the new Detox set and the Avocado one. I agree with you about the scents. In fact they both smelled great to me! The only reason I didn't buy them was because they cost more than twice what Walmart charges for their Vo5 shampoo/ conditioners. I'm hoping Walmart will have them the next time I go there. :)

I use these a lot. I get them at Walmart. The kiwi one is my favorite, and the passion fruit one is great too. I have never used the shampoos though, because they are not sulfate free. When I really want my hair to be smooth I use the Suave Keratin Infusion Conditioner. Between the two brands, I can decide what texture I want my hair to be.

Today I went to the store without any intentions of buying hair products and I saw it! But I think the Shampoo and conditioners are from different lines but those were the only ones they had. So I had to buy 3 of each just in case i can't find them again.
They claim to be sulfate free but I think I saw the word sodium there or something like that, Im not an expert about ingredients...
Anyway, I use it and I love it! They smell wonderful and the conditioner is sooo creamy!

So, in a somewhat tragic development I've decided I'm going to quit Suave and V05 which are both sold through Unilever in the US for ethical reasons. I feel like I'm throwing my hair out of a homeless shelter and it's on the cold rainy street, I think my plan is to just not get it wet until I find an alternative. Send my hair your best vibes! I was feeling a bit hypocritical since I had a lot of information to post in the Lush thread but realized I had no idea about the products I actually use. I'll miss my Suave!

I bought the yummy scented Strawberries and Cream scent and tried it out as-is.
I have tiny amount of this scent left from pre-LHC days. At first I thought it had been discontinued, but it turns out it was just that the grocery store I usually go to stopped carrying it. So I think if I look in some other stores I might be able to find it still and get a new bottle. I absolutely love(d) the scent and it was the only strawberry-scented shampoo I've been able to find.
Lately I've been trying to pay more attention to how various products affect my hair, so I hope if I start using the strawberry VO5 again, I'll like the results. I also have the green kiwi lime clarifying shampoo but I don't like that scent as much and I think it might be a little too harsh for my scalp, even though I've been diluting my shampoo now.

Has anyone tried out the new Vo5 shampoo/conditioners yet? CVS is the only place I've seen the new Avocado Cream and Detox ones so far. I was so sure they would start showing up in some of the cheaper places that carry Vo5. I have a hard time paying CVS's $1.69 each, when everyone else around has their Vo5 for $1 or less. I've been watching CVS's weekly sales, thinking they'll have a good sale on them. But not yet. It's okay, you can call me Cheap. :)
I'm thinking that Avocado Cream would be a good moisturizing set when/if cool weather ever makes its way here. In the meantime, I'll keep happily using my Strawberries and Cream and Extra Body sets.

I had trouble with the Extra Body one too. I loved the scent and it gave my hair more volume, albeit "fluffy" volume, but it did a number on the ends of my hair. They would be so dry and look pointy every time I used it. It led me to believe, what I've always suspected, that my hair just does not tolerate proteins.
I'm using the Vo5 Detox set right now with great results. It seems to have cleared out the proteins from my hair and left the ends soft and shiny again.
I bought the Blackberry Sage set yesterday. It has most of the same ingredients as the detox, but it smells so much sweeter. :)

I can't use cones on my fine hair because of build-up, but the polyquats don't seem to have that same effect on it. Protein is just as bad as the cones in my hair, but that is another story. :)

You really should try them if it's been a long time since you've used them. They changed their ingredients not real long ago and I like them much better now than I did before the change. I don't think the shampoos are as drying on my hair as the older versions were. And they took out the DMDM hydantoin. I know that's an ingredient some people try to avoid.

@blackgothicdoll I don't think polyquats are as bad as cones. There are some cg products that have gentler quats and even cg marketed products. As I Am cleansing conditioner is a good example of this. I know one of my old favorite curl enhancers by Curl Junkie (Curls In A Bottle) had them and you can remove build up just with the right cowash. At the time, I used Curl Junkie's cleansing conditioner and my hair was fine. However, I also regularly clarified anyway. I think you'd be fine! If you're not a shampoo person, I think diluting shampoo and making a liquidy wash could be a great way just so you know you're safe. :)
@sillyme I wish I could locate my favorite scents but most of the stuff I've seen isn't the scent I liked. But maybe I'll keep my eyes peeled and look into it. Why don't people like dmdm hydantoin? Is it a build up issue or more of a similar to paraben/propylene glycol reason? I'd love to know which varieties you use and like!

The dmdm hydantoin is another preservative (like parabens) some people try to avoid, but as far as I know, it doesn't really do anything to or for hair.
My favorites: (I'm so glad you asked :)
Strawberries and Cream is my favorite scent in the varieties I have available near me. But, it has soy milk protein that builds up in my hair after just a few washes. I still use it, but have to clarify often since I am a daily shampooer.
I actually get the best results from the Detox set. It doesn't have proteins. It cleans my hair very well without drying it out, and the conditioner is light enough that it doesn't weigh down my fine hair, but it detangles very well. I just wish this set smelled as good as the strawberry set. It's not a bad scent but I like sweet fruity scents. The only way I can describe this scent is kind of a detergent scent. But the scent doesn't really linger in my hair. The only place I have found this one is at CVS and it doesn't look like they are replenishing their stock as they sell out.
The other set I have and like is the Blackberry and Sage. It too, smells sweet and it has no proteins. If it smelled like the Strawberry set, it would be my Number 1 set.
So, for right now I rotate these three sets and they keep me and my hair happy. :)

Snolol, I do use the conditioners, but very sparingly or I'll quickly turn into a grease head with very flat hair. But, I have to use a conditioner from roots to ends or I will have flyaways everywhere and a tangled mess when combing out after shampooing. It's such a delicate balance and it drives me crazy!
I would love to use cones, (and have in the past) because they make my hair feel like silk. But I have never found one that doesn't leave my hair so very flat after it's dry.

Hey, I've found another Vo5 shampoo I love, Normal! I know it's been around forever but for some reason I've put off trying it. I don't think it has much, if any, protein in it for my picky hair to hate. I have to clarify pretty often when using the Moisture Milks line with soy milk protein. I love the scent of the Normal too. It kind of smells like some of the shampoos from the 70's. Oops, I'm telling my age here. :)
I don't think there is a matching conditioner for this shampoo, but that's okay because I've actually been leaving off conditioner while using it and my hair seems fuller and quite happy without it. Anyone else used this version of Vo5? What did you think about it?

But I would definitely have to apply conditioner from root to tips after shampooing. Or, I will have a knotted mess of tangles. I've never believed in using only shampoo and not condition afterwards.

V05 is too much of hit or miss for me, so I gave up.

mermaid lullaby, Why do you say that? You must have been having some bad experiences with it?

Is that the rust-brown one? I think that's my favorite, too. I'm not that big on the fruity-scented ones, which is why I chose that one-- it's not super-scented. I used to also have the green clarifying shampoo, but I felt like the "normal" cut through the oil on my hair better.
(And yes, now that you mention it, the older shampoos is what it smells like! Must not be just 70s shampoos because I'm a child of the 80s... speaking of "older" shampoos, I really wish Prell was cruelty-free because I miss the smell of it...)

Nope Nope Nope... finally got around to trying some and now I can't even get my fingers through my hair. It has made my hair soooo grabby it is literally impossible to comb without constant snapping.

Just offering a couple ideas. I can use V05 but I don't love it. In Canada, some of them have cones. I'm not sure where you live but maybe double check the label? I also know that some have protein. Maybe you're reacting to the protein ones?

It looks like a golden honey color to me. If I remember correctly, the Body one is a little darker and smells a lot like the Normal. I can't use it because of the protein though.

I remember when I was a teenager like 14 or 15 years old that's when I first discovered and fell in-love with VO5. Especially, the one for Extra Body Shampoo and Conditioner with callagen. I discovered and learned about it from one of my aunts on my father's side. I can remember this like yesterday. One day as I went into her bathroom, and I saw in her bathroom shower she had a bottle of the extra body shampoo and the extra body conditioner with callagen in it, and I've been using and loving it from then on.

Yes, Kat that is the one. (Sorry I didn't notice your comment earlier.)
I've been using the Vo5 Normal daily since July and love it more and more! I'm experiencing no build-up at all.:joy:

Lucky you to have discovered Vo5 so many years ago and to have found one you love. I have found that the Vo5 formulas are different from each other. My fine, unprocessed hair just does not want or need proteins. So, the Moisture Milk line with soy milk proteins give me problems. Makes me sad because I love the fruity scented Strawberries and Cream scent. Unfortunately, the Extra Body Shampoo doesn't work for me either because of the collagen. But the scent of the Normal shampoo reminds me of that one, and it doesn't have proteins. I just wish they made a matching conditioner for this one.

Yes, I'm glad I've discovered Vo5 so many years ago and to have found one I love too. Yes, I also have found the Vo5 formulas are different from each other too. Especially, the Kiwi and Lime Squeeze conditioner. Yum! I really love the way it smells and conditions my hair leaving it feeling nice and soft without needing cones all of the time or protein is right. Right now, the only kind of processing I have on my hair is hair color, and so every now and then I like to add some protein back into my hair once or twice a month. It's really just a light protein conditioner. Hmmm, I've never tried the Moisture Milk line with soy milk proteins. Awwww, that's so sad that it gives you problems. Some people's hair don't need or can't take too much protein. I bet that does make you sad because you love the fruity scented Strawberries and Cream scent. I also love that scent too but that one doesn't work for me at all. It didn't condition my hair at all. I applied it and my hair still felt dry and tangly like I had never conditioned it. Awww, that's also sad that the Extra Body Shampoo doesn't work for you either because of the collagen. I bet the scent of the Normal shampoo does remind you you of that one too. The scent of the Normal shampoo also reminds me of the Extra Body Shampoo scent too, and no it doesn't have proteins. I also wish they made a matching conditioner to it too. I thought they did at one time! Well, I'm in the US. Maybe they had it in the US and just discontinued it?

^ Just wanted to mentioned VO5 conditioner to match the “normal” shampoo does exist, I just bought one the other day. Not sure why it’s not on their website? I actually think High Ridge Brands improved upon this brand since they bought it from Unilever; for a while there it didn’t work on my hair. I’m on the East Coast in the US, and I’ve seen the “normal” conditioner at both Shop Rite and Stop & Shop.

I remember the days when Vo5 came in a, get this, square GLASS bottle.
These days I use the conditioner to get the oil out of my ends, and I use the shampoo for clarifying about every other month. But I find it pretty harsh and could never use it regularly.

I wish they would make the tops easy to get off... I would like to recycle the bottle when I'm done, and it's a pain in the rear to try to get the top off so I can rinse it out. I don't know what their reasoning is for not just having a screw cap... (I suspect it has something to do with keeping it in that exact position to match the unique bottle shape. Meh.)

Just tried VO5 Kiwi Lime Squeeze Shampoo to reset my hair and remove buildup.

I like the kiwi lime squeeze clarifying shampoo too. I was actually using it as a regular daily shampoo a few years ago before I found out that it was labeled clarifying. Oops. Dried my hair out a lot ofc for not knowing, but I loved the smell. Really nice clarifying shampoo

I just saw the conditioner too, in a local grocery store. Maybe it's new? I didn't buy it because it has biotin in it according to the front label. I'm thinking that is a protein? Am I right? If so, my hair will probably reject it.
I'm still using the Vo5 Normal Shampoo with no conditioner and my hair has never been so happy for such a long length of time (almost a year now). I've not had to clarify at all because the shampoo leaves no residue. Comb-out is fine. I actually seemed to have more tangles when I used to use conditioner. But note, my hair is not long, it's just a wanna-be. :)
