I do not want my hair to lighten in the sun. How can i cover it up or prevent it from lightening? I looked at a sports hat that I could wear when I run outside but my hair would still be exposed. Is there anyway to tuck the hair in the hat or are does anyone have a way to completely cover the hair? Or have the hair exposed but still protected from lightening/damage?

I braid and tuck my thick BSL hair under my favorite Sox hat when I run several times a week. It's adjustable so I just make it large enough to fit comfortably fit my hair and it doesn't bother me for the 10 or so miles I usually go. Not sure what I'm going to do when it gets much longer but it works for me now.

I'd suggest a stocking cap but that would just make you too hot when you run. Unless some company has made a lightweight one that I don't know about.

What about a buff (http://www.buffwear.com/)? It can be used as a sort of sporty snood, if you like.

Wow. That's great. I'd never heard of that before.

I use a Buff for running, since it wicks sweat. When I'm working outside, I'll wear a bandanna, or a headscarf. Check out this link (http://www.tznius.com/cgi-bin/tying.pl) for cool ways to tie a scarf. I use "The Ribbon" style a lot, except I keep tying the ends over the bun at the back so they don't dangle. I always get compliments on it. I use "The Crown" to tie up my hair when I'm pre-wash oiling, since it works better with lighter fabrics.
