Have any of you tried changing your diet to enhance the health of your hair?
What have you changed or added, and did you notice a difference?

I do not care for meat, so I don't get much protein. I've been trying to add cottage cheese in my diet to remedy this. It's been about two or three months now and I haven't noticed a difference but then I'm kind of oblivious to such things.

Recently, I've also started drinking more water. I probably have to wait until the summer's end until I see any difference.

It's the same case with me, I'm pretty oblivious, I mean I only really notice when my hair passes certain milestones. I tell myself that maybe I should record my monthly hair growth, but then it's like, sigh, who am I kidding, I can't even turn in my lab reports on time.

Yea, I usually only notice things when they are already in their extreme state. When you look in the mirror and your hair just looks really dull/flat/limp and you wonder, what suddenly happened?!! When in fact, it was probably a gradual change. Heh heh, yep, my middle name should be Oblivious.

I use to really love chips, fizzy drinks, ice cream and chocolate!:crush: All the naughty foods! :D

But after a visit from the dentist and many fillings and the needle! :shudder:

It snapped me out of my sweet tooth and unhealthy lifestyle.

I changed my diet to fish, chicken, veg, and herbal/green teas with a little honey. I also snack on carrots or soups when I crave a snack :)

I also take a multi vitamin a day.

My hair has improved alot. I have noticed faster hair growth. I would have 1/2 inch growth but these past 2 months it's shot up to 1 inch. So hopefully this continues.

I have also lost weight and my teeth are better. :cheese:

I take a good multi-vitamin, Biotin, Glucosamine-MSM. Vitamin C, Omega-3 fatty acids.

I am a meat-eater, grrr, and am consciously trying to always eat enough grams of protein every day for my weight.

I shoot for between 100 and 150 grams of protein. Here is a calculator.

Ive pretty much always been a healthy eater but with some newer health problems ive reallys tepped it up. I have absorbtion problems so i make sure to take the right vitamins at the right times soi can get the most benefit. I have added in more raw foods and omega's. i get the majority of my protien from fish and eat lots and lots of veggies and any whole grains i can tolerate. There are lots of thing i dont or cant eat so it keeps me on a healthy track. My "treats" are things like trader joes smothies, oskri sesame bars, or the very very occasional baked goods or natural soda. I havent had any baked goods in a few months and the last soda i had was a ginger beer 3 or 4 weeks ago. I did have a coconut bar yesterday though lol

Excellent question. :) I eat more macrobiotic recipes now but still continue to eat meat by Doctor's orders because I've had iron deficiency for a few years. I eat less salt, amd less sugar too. Add to that lots of fresh fruits and veggies, especially oranges. I also like prunes. :o I know, I know, but it's a yin food and keeps me cool and stress free.
Whole grains are also beneficial for hair. Lots of B vites and Vitamin E too. :D I'd better shut up now and give someone else a chance to respond. I could talk about diets for hair foever because I finally have begun to see results as my dry hair has become much more hydrated.

Mostly protein, good fats (especially sunflower seeds!) and very few carbs. I'm hypoglycemic so it pays for me to stay away from them.

Haha your old diet sounds very much like my current one! But it is encouraging that you have had good results, maybe it will help me get on track!

Ah so helpful! I suppose things that anyone who knows anything about nutrition could guess, including myself, but I am so bad about staying on top of my diet.. your diet sounds... tempting though! Freshness, I think I need more of that :)

I am hypoglycemic as well, except for me.. carbs are my downfall in a major way. I'm addicted, and I crash so badly when I try to get off!
