Dear All,
Newbie here...I have BSL and am hoping to grow past my waist. Does the LHC have a set of hair care guidelines for people who are just starting out from absolutely no information, like common mistakes to avoid, best protocol for daily/weekly care, how often to trim, etc? I don't want to burden people with repeating things that are already posted elsewhere, but I was wondering if a Guide already exists somewhere?
Thank you very much,
Lilly

I think there are a few basic guides in the Articles section. Happy searching!

Welcome to TLHC!
Start with this one, "LHC Terms and Abbreviations" (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=10), it'll help the others make a whole lot more sense.

Then read these two:

Kirin's Beginner's Primer to Sorting Through Advice (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=65)
and
Ursula's Standard Newbie Advice (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=39)

This one is also helpful:
How to Measure Your Hair (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=9)

And finally, here is the full articles section. Articles. (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=main)

I hope that helps, and enjoy the Long Hair Community!

General guidelines, heat style very sparingly, shampoo as needed or as little as needed, dye rarely, except with henna, and use oil if your hair is dry is what I've noticed. Not sure if it's been posted before, but that tends to be the general general advice, and then it changes depending on your hair type.

You're welcome! It may seem overwhelming right now, but soon you'll start recognizing avatars and signatures, then linking them to names. Before you know it, you'll be a fixture here!

When I joined the articles section wasn't organized the way it is now, and I learned most of the stuff linked to piecemeal. I was so excited when I discovered the list of abbreviations. Glad to be of help.

I think this is the best post I've ever found for newbies. Threads like this crop up every once in a while, because there's just so much information to sift through. Somewhere or another along the thread, all these articles are linked, but I don't think a single person has linked them all together and in a comprehensive order. I think I might need to bookmark this post in the future so I can link to it :p
