Now, I've read Silver&Gold's lovely scritching instructions posted here http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=2185&highlight=Scritching . I just have a little question about frequency, specifically, how often is too often?

Normally my hair gets flaky (without scritching) the third day after wash. Is this healthy, or normal?

I've tried EVOO for this, a couple times, but it didn't make a difference on my scalp, but I'm open to other remedies as well. I'm just wondering if scritching is a viable option for me.

hm, for me, the more I touch my scalp, the itchier/flakier it gets. Since going back on 'cones, it's been itchier, so I have to really focus on not touching it.

I feel like my scalp is overall healthier if I wash less, but then there is a certain point where it is just going to be itchy no matter what - say, day 4 - and rather than suffering, I wash. WO washes help if I have to wash my hair sooner than I'd like (ends are fine, just scalp is unhappy) because a WO wash seems to clean and soothe. SMTs, honey, vinegar rinses are all also good.

I don't 'scritch' or really otherwise disturb my scalp, apart from massaging it when WO washing, or sometimes using my BBB before a wash. For me, it just doesn't have any positive effects.

hth!

That does help, Katze, thank you for sharing your perspective on scritching with me. If this doesn't work, perhaps the WO washes will be my next experiment.:D

I find that if I scritch (with nails or comb) and massage daily my scalp stays happy and healthy. I find that I get a more effective scritch with my nails which seem to gentler on my scalp than a comb.
