Hello all! I was wondering what dosage you all take of MSM and/or biotin for hair growth? I take GNC Ultra Nourishair as an overall multivitamin but I recently bought biotin and MSM to try to help promote more growth.
Thanks!! :) :pinktongue:

Go by what it says on the bottle, I figure. And cut back if you notice any adverse symptoms.

Not that they're likely to happen, mind you, since as far as I know all of those supplements are liquid-soluble and excess comes out with your urine. But I do remember someone on these boards mentioning that biotin has exacerbated her cystic acne, and when I personally was little my mum gave me too much B-vitamin in the form of carrots and I turned (slightly, non-damagingly) orange. I had a carrot tan. :) If you get one, ease off.

MSM with Glucosamine 1,500 mg a day (3 doses of 500 mg)

I’m taking 1000 mg of MSM. I read warnings about taking over 2000 mg, so I’m sticking with 1000 mg which seems to be pretty common. Some people have linked MSM to depression

I have been wondering about the dose though. Some places I have read about MSM for animal use and there the dose is based by the body weight, so why should it be different for humans?

Only 1500 mcg of Biotin daily. I should double it back up to 3000 mcg like I used to but I'm unemployed and dont want to run out and have to buy more too soon :o

On MSM, that's 2000 mcg daily, and for the Biotin, that's 5000 mcg of what I take daily every day!

so if i'm taking a hair skin nail supplement that has 3,000 mcg of biotin should i take 2,000 more of biotin separate to make the 5,000 mcg of biotin? I almost purchased a super 5,000 mcg a pill bottle of biotin, then got the hair/skin/nail one and a separate 1,000 mcg a pill biotin to boost it.

I don't take MSM because many have said it could be linked to depression, which I'm not willing to risk (a lot of my family members have it and let's say not all of them had happy endings) but as far as Biotin goes, I'm taking 2000 mcg daily. :)

Counting what's in my Hair, skin & Nails multi-vitamins in addition the separate pills I'm taking, I'm totalling 3,600 mcg Biotin and 1,100 mcg MSM. I've only been taking them for a couple weeks, but I think I'm starting to notice some whispy growth around my temples. :D

I take the GNC UltraNourishair, too. I don't take any additional MSM, but I do take an additional 5000 mcg of Biotin a day, as well as a regular Women's Multi and a vegetarian Omega 3/6/9 supplement. I've definitely noticed increased growth from vitamins...I used to get about a 1/2" a month, now it's up to 1"
