So I gave up blowdrying a month and a half ago, and my hair has been thanking me! But I do miss the smooth-as-glass feeling that blowdrying used to leave me, so today I tried an experiment.

I let my hair air dry as normal until it was totally dry, but afterwards I ran a brush and "blowdried" with cold air only- no heat. I got that smooth feeling back and I'm thrilled! But I'm concerned- does the cold air have the same damaging effect as heat on the hair?

Does anyone know?? I really like the smooth feeling and don't want to give it up :(

No, not really. The damaged caused by blowdrying is due to heat, which boils the water within your hair follicle. Cold blow drying isn't much worse than, say, wind.

Cool air is so much better than hot, so if you like the look I personally don't see the harm.

Awesome! The brush did pull a bit at my hair, though, so I'm going to have to find a gentler brush to do it.

But it's good to know I'm not doing any more damage!
