Soooo, any of you ever have a Kerastase in-salon treatment of any kind? I didn't really find anything on a search, just little blurbs about their at-home haircare.
Looks like they run about $55-$80 at several salons in my area. I've been having a really rough time with my ends......I'd guess about 3 inches at least are just shot to hell. I was wondering if anyone has done one of the rejuvenating/restoring treatments in a salon and what you thought and was it worth it?
I think the thing that scares me the most is these all seem to be high-end snobby salons, so I'm scared I'll encounter the bossy douchebag stylist that will want to hack all my hair off  I'm a strong soul, you can't really bully me into doing something I don't want to, so don't worry about me too much.

I had karastate salon hair mask and shampoo or something like that. The only thing I remember about it is that it was pricey. Nothing super fantastic, or anything. Probably loaded with cones too. Regarding the salon, it was same old story, I said I want to grow my hair out, and the stylist cut far more than 1/2" and renewed the layers I fought so hard to get rid off.
I'll say it as much as needed - I don't trust hair scissors in the hands of anybody other than me. It worked, I've been APL to midback for ten years, and suddenly for the last half of a year I'm brushing hip. Surprise surprise.

I've had Kerastase treatments a couple of times. It's been good and I've actually been wanting to try the 'Bain de Force' series, but I as far as I've read on the Internet it has a lot of chemicals in it. I once tried a deep treatment masque called "Masque intense", which was really awesome. My hair was smooth, my ends looked nicer and it didn't weigh down my hair. I've been searching the Internet for a list of ingredients, but haven't had any luck...

Thanks ladies :)
Anyone else? Funny that a longhair forum doesn't really have an opinion on these "high end" salon treatments.

From what I've read, the best thing about these treatments is sitting under the heat cap to "activate" them. I'd think that any moisturizing conditioner, under heat, might give the same conditioning benefits, but I haven't found it to be true. Maybe it's magic, my hair always responds better at the salon ;)
I forgot to add that the only treatment at the salon I worked at (that I saw) was a clear moisturizing gloss that sealed the cuticle. It worked, to be sure, but I couldn't begin to guess what was in it

If I wanted to do something special for my hair, I would invest in a pricey deep-conditioner, which is still far cheaper than one of these dubious treatments. *shrugs*

I would say also that you could BUY the Deep conditioner and then you could use it many times with heat at home for the same price of ONE treatment there. I did love kerastase when I used cones but only bought the oleo relax serum. I would not spend $80 for a hair treatment just wouldn't. Course I spend more than that for highlights/lowlights :)

I adore kerastase - they are my 'go to' treatments when my hair needs it. I am cone-free at the moment, so I don't use it. But when I straighten (rarely!) I use kerastase, and my hair is perfection. They are expensive though, but they always win the hair product awards here, they are definitely worth it.
I would buy some of their treatments though, rather than an in-salon experience. They have fabulous masks and things - if they don't work, nothing will.
I AM now a huge fan of natural stuff here - oils, CO-washes, etc. But yeah, I do think kerastase is pretty fantastic, just too expensive to use all the time.

Two years ago when I put some highlights (bleached) I bought the full line of Chroma Reflect. The results? Nothing remarkable :( I spent more than 50 euros in three products that didn't work for me. I've heard good opinions also, but for me nada.

Spidermom mentioned yesterday (I think) that she had a full plate of salon treatments recently. Maybe she'll show up, or you can pm her.

Thanks everyone :)
I'm pretty natural/cone free (poo bars and Suave and oils) right now. Just felt the other week like my hair needed some OOMPH. Maybe I'll pick up something from ebay. Thanks again for all the replies :flowers:

I've never had a treatment done in a salon. I think it would be fun, but I worry about spending that much money and not getting amazing results. Even the best conditioners don't usually make my hair look or feel much better than cheaper ones.
I think trimming off the damaged ends and using a good conditioner at home will give you the results you want.

Resurrecting this thread after going through the search menu.
I had a Kerastase salon treatment in July last year because I asked for something to give my hair ultra shine. I don't know the actual name of the product they used, only the brand, so I'm hoping someone might have some idea.
It was some type of liquid treatment that was rinsed through my hair while it was being washed. There was no waiting around or heat activation, it was actually quite fast and simple.
I bought the Kerastase shampoo & conditioner while I was at the salon (the bright pink ones) but never really found them to be anything to rave about. I had the treatment done on holiday in Australia and was less than half the price of the same products sold in Spain, so I never re-purchased or looked into it again.
Now I've just found a photo from after the treatment and the shine is blinding! I love it and want to know if anyone has any idea of what it might have been. Anyone familiar with the salon treatments by Kerastase? TIA.

I read on another forum that Kerastase is the same formula as Elvive, just in frou frou packaging
I love the treatment in the green jar, never had it in-salon though

Guess what. Let me tell you this, I used the bain de force series in my own shower for about two years after intense bleach damage, even after cutting from APL to chin, and because my hair used to worship cones, it literally rescued my F/M hair. However, I noticed that my hair got flatter and greasier faster because there was a little bit of build up here and there.
The heat protectant gel was marvelous, but that too was cone loaded.
The thing I hated about it was how ridiculously overpriced the series is.

For nearly a decade I swore by Keratase (in particular the Bain de Force series) to keep my hair soft, moisturised and tangle-free.
I'd alternate the Bain de Force series with all the other products for build-up was a big problem with me.
However, I didn't question the ingredients on the containers and had no knowledge of cones, so it was only when I realsised that the L'Oreal Elvive range was virtually the same I started to question the price then research the ingredients - a journey that led me to go cone-free.
With much better results.
During the years I used Keratase my growth rate was extremely low; I shed like mad and my ends constantly broke, resulting in me losing a lot of length from my hair. With hindsight I feel this was due primarily to the high level of cones and chemicals I was assaulting my hair with - using the products admittedly left my hair soft but that short-term gain in slippery hair resulted in a long-term loss of hair overall.
I'd strongly advise anyone thinking of using this range to give it a miss.
