does anyone know the plopping or messy scrunchy methods of drying hair to encourage or enhance your waves?

I know how to plop, but not how the messy scrunchie method works.
To plop:

Place a towel on a relatively flat surface (toilet seat, bed, ...).
Tilt your head so that the ends are in the middle of the towel.
Lower your head more until all your hair is on the towel.
Now, twist the towel ends so the hair stays on top of your head and fasten those end in some way (you could use a hairband for that).
Wait until your hair is (mostly) dry.
Remove towel and admire those curls.
Done!

Here's a link that has a picture, it makes things easier: http://www.naturallycurly.com/its-a-curly-world/to-plop-or-not-to-plop (I hope linking like this is OK, if not, feel free to remove)

This is exactly what I've been doing for years, and it works wonderfully. I have to use my curlease towel- http://www.curlease.com/ . The towel seems to absorb more water than product, and helps me dry more quickly and with less frizzies...it is long enough for me to tie the twisted ends at the back of my neck, so I don't need elastics or a hairband to fasten it...The Jessicurl site has good video demonstrations of this...hth...:-)

I was going to suggest the jessicurl website, she has a great video on how to achieve this. I used an old tshirt before getting my MF towel, now I have a turbie! :D

I tried the messy scrunchie, and it make my curls look funky! Basically, you just do 2 high buns on each side of your head (think Minnie Mouse).

Here's a link to Jessicurl's youtube where you can see the plunking/plopping step by step.

Hope that helps!

I tried this, but I would warn against doing it when your hair is still short- I got curls, but they were sticking straight out from the sides of my head! Think Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing.

I tried plopping (really hate that name!) but couldnt get the hang of it, what i do is when my hair is wet I turn my head upside down and put some aloe vera gel in my hands, then grab the hair, i do this all over. Then i tip my head to the right position and grab again all over, once im happy i dont touch and leave to dry works every time for me.

jojo: so you take the aloe vera gel and scrunch your wet hair?
