View Full Version : Brush vs comb?

I'm new, and all I've heard about as far as brushing products go is the continued argument of wood combs vs bone combs. Why do people not use a brush? I understand the BBB would be useless for detangling, but why not one of those plastic ones with the funky beads on the end, like this:

The main problem is that those little beaded ends can cause breakage in hair. I know they did in my hair. They're not too gentle on hair.

Then there are those of us that whose hedgehogs style their hair.

Well, they are bristly in a way.

Most of the time I use a wooden comb. I find that this helps prevent my hair from getting ripped and snapped.

I find that any type of non-BBB brush catches my hair at the place the bristles are put in. Combs are gentler, they'll handle more cleaning (the brushes with cushions get...icky inside if I wash them like I wash my comb) and they actually go through my hair (brushes tend to get stuck in the upper layer).

Tangle Teazers are GREAT!!!! if you are looking for a brush alternative that is.

I want a hedgehog to style my hair... I almost got one earlier this year but my OH said we already have a Zoo... Bah! ;D

I think if the ball is connected to the bristle, it's ok, I have one like that that has never given me a day of trouble. If the ball (or bead) is separate , there seems to be a gap that snags hair and that will cause damage.

But I also wanted to say the hedgehog is adorable!!!

Right now I use a plastic type comb from Walmart, but I really miss using my brush ( and yes I used a brush with the tips like those and I never had problems). I am thinking about buying a tangle teezer so maybe I won't miss my brush sooo much and it supposedly is safe to use on wet or dry hair.
