View Full Version : Miracle Whip a 'Miracle' for Skin and Hair?

Hey everyone - I hope this is the right forum for this :D
I just had to post to remind people who know and to tell those who do not know - just how wonderful Kraft Miracle Whip is for skin and hair use.
I have aging dry fine line prone skin - that does not like any time of manual exfoliation. It just gets more dry and really sad if I try anything - even water and a wash cloth!
So - what I do these days is called the Miracle Whip Facial. You just put a thin layer of MW on your face and neck and let it sit for 10 minutes - 12 is better - and then start rubbing it off with your fingers.
Little balls of stuff come off - and this is a mixture of the top layer of skin and the MW. Keep rubbing (it will take a while) until all of the shiny layer is rubbed off. When my skin is extra dingy - I will do it again immediately afterwards - which results in a deeper peel.
This is a cheap and very effective version of a chemical peel - which uses the vinegar in the MW to do the peeling.
Your skin may be very red afterwards - but it will go away in 30 minutes or so.
I've also used MW for a hair mask - I just glob it in and let it sit for at least 30 minutes and then wash it out with a poo bar or CO it out.
It works great - but you have to make sure you get it all out or you will not only be greasy you will smell like a salad!
Hope this helps someone.
OLDER WOMEN: Please try this facial! You will be amazed. When I finally got my mom to try it - and she exfoliates daily - so much dead skin came off that she lost tons of her wrinkles! Now she is addicted to doing this and the last time she came to visit my bf actually asked me if my mom had plastic surgery - LOL:cheese:
ETA: No - I do not work for Kraft btw :D Nor do I actually EAT MW :P

Yeah, a bunch of us got into this a few years back. It's kind of fun to do, but I eventually found that I didn't need it, it was messy, and the smell got to me, so I let it drift away. I'm sure there are some who will want to try it now, either again, or for the first time.
It's worth trying! Also, it's fun to freak out spouses, roommates, etc., when you start to hand roll the little balls of stuff off your face. :)

wow. I'm gonna try it. On my face, maybe not my hair. Hope it doesn't change the way I feel about tuna salad sandwiches!

The pH of mayo is about 3.65. Miracle Whip must be close to that.
The ideal pH range for hair is about 4.7 to around 5 or higher.

Are you sure? I thought mayo would be more acidic than Miracle Whip because it has vinegar in it.

The only way to know for sure is to test the pH with strips or a meter but this explains the main differences between mayonnaise and Miracle Whip. (http://www.neatorama.com/2006/12/22/whats-the-difference-miracle-whip-vs-mayonnaise/) The sugar and or syrup and may make it more acidic than mayo. Different mayonnaises may have slightly different pH values and there are differnt versions of Miracle Whip. Both Miracle Whip and mayo contain vinegar.

Ooohhh!! For some reason, when I read Miracle Whip, that's not the product that popped into my head - I was thinking the whipped cream product that comes in a short plastic tub. I don't buy either, so I got them confused. :p

No worries, lol.
You may have been thinking of Cool Whip (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cool_Whip).

So, how often are you supposed to do this?
Once a week? 3x a day?

I'd just like to state, for the record, Miracle Whip is disgusting. There, I feel better now :D
As for the little ball thing, I've never tried it, but I had one of those dead sea facials masks that did the same thing (little balls). Who knows, maybe I'll try some Miracle Whip someday, just keep that crap away from my sandwiches!

I would suspect you use it as often as you do a DT or protein treatment. Use common sense with it, if 3x a week is too much, do it less. If 1x a month is too little, do it more.

I tried this yesterday. Works good. This is a good alpha-hydroxy treatment also. Glycolic acid is derived from sugar cane.<p> ps: I'm the 3rd Debbie on this thread.

Funny, eh? When I was growing up there were TONS of us! Then as I got older, couldn't find anyone else with that name...now the last two years...TONS again!!!

So, you think that 3x a day for wrinkles is a little overkill?!!!! I wonder if I would turn INTO a tuna fish sandwhich!!!!??!!!

Hahaha, well since it supposedly exfoliates your skin, you don't want to overdo it or you'll just rub yourself raw :)

When I was growing up my Mom and I used regular mayonnaise for deep conditioning for our hair. Then next thing we know, we start seeing "Hair Mayonnaise" products at the local beauty supply store. Never tried on the face before.
I don't have Miracle Whip, but I do have just a teeny tiny bit of mayonnaise left - I was just about to throw it out. So I said, "What the heck" and now I have a very shiny face as I'm typing this, lol.

Just an FYI, Miracle Whip is not the same as regular mayo. It has other stuff in it, so I don't think you'll get the same effect that people are mentioning in this thread :) I'm sure you'll get some moisturizing though. :flower:

I've tried this, I saw a recommendation for it some time ago on another thread. I didn't use Miracle Whip (we don't get that here), but some similar fake mayonnaise stuff. Yoghonaise, it has 25% yoghurt in it.
Anyway, it works great for exfoliation indeed, but the first time I tried it I used too much of the stuff and gave myself a chemical burn of sorts, that didn't go away until the next day. I find that if I use just 3/4 teaspoon for my whole face, and leave it on for no longer than 15 minutes, it works great.

I use it on my face about once a week.
I use real mayo or miracle whip on my hair about once a week too.... but if using miracle whip I put in a tbsp of oil and honey too, it seems too drying alone.

Indeed, my skin is supple and nice. Feels better than when I used to use cold cream. (sits and ponders whether I shall go and purchase Miracle Whip for beauty purposes, since I do not fancy the taste or smell of it. And the decision is....)
...I'm sure there's a knockoff store brand that comes in a smaller jar...perhaps I'll give it a shot

Full-fat. Skip the chemicals that they use to make the diet stuff have a proper taste and consistency.

Given the ingredients list (and the fact that the stuff is sweet, for reasons I do not understand), I wonder if the HFCS and sugar might make Miracle Whip more humectant than regular mayonnaise. Any thoughts?

I want any thoughts on whether it is likely to make you break out (if you are prone) or not before I try any of that.

Oh, help. I washed my face so I'd start out clean, dried off, then I put a thin layer on all over, rubbed it in, let it sit for about twelve minutes. I tried to rub it off, it didn't come off in little balls, it was just all greasy all over my face. It was so greasy, I had to use soap to get it off. Now my face feels chemically burned and it's irritated.
How on earth could I have screwed up a Miracle Whip facial? It was just an extremely thin layer - you couldn't even tell it was on my skin at first. After a few minutes though, I got all greasy. Maybe I'm just super sensitive.
