A week after this photo was taken, I cut my hair to collar bone length. (I don't know if YOU see it, but I had some MAJOR split ends. Cutting it broke my heart).

But, since then, my hair's grown to this length here(I took this photo about 3 days ago):

I'm on the fence on whether or not my hair's growing fast or not, but I do miss the length it used to be at. But, I still need to trim it slightly, just to get rid of a few dead ends- and my hair's very thick, and it's hard to brush sometimes, so i'll just put it up versus leaving it down and combing it all the time. Is that bad?

And, other than that, what are some things I can do to try and keep tangles from developing so much? I get them nearly 2 minutes after brushing my hair sometimes. Is there any special shampoo I should use, you know... all that. Opinions/thoughts/anything is welcome.
I hope this is the right forum. Sorry if it's not. D:

Check out the catnip tea thread. Keeps breakage and split ends at bay.

BTW, you soak your hair in it, not drink it! I just read what I wrote! hahahaha!

Your hair looks really pretty. Wearing it up is preferable to leaving it down to tangle; most of us do so most of the time. As for preventing tangles, you'll probably hear as many answers as there are people here. I like to leave in some of my regular conditioner or a little oil, then put some coney serum on top of that. Currently I'm using Polish It - a nice product. Other people make the sign of the cross and back away if they hear the word "cones." I also like to blow-dry my hair on warm and cool, something else other people sneer at; it makes the ends less grabby by smoothing them out.

I'm so happy you trimmed it! It did look pretty unhealthy (almost like those people who use a straightening iron daily). I know that must have been so hard. Trust me, after two feet hacked off due to damage, I can relate. Even if it's not growing in faster, it will be worth it in the long run. My hair used to be BSL, but with all the abuse it had taken, combing led to giant hairballs of breakage!

My hair also used to tangle constantly. I've found that oiling it (I use Pink, from Walmart. It's cheap, but works!) to the point that it gets a tiny bit stringy, right before bed, then braiding it loosely helped a bunch. This nightly regiment greatly helped my hair during the day. If in the morning your hair is still a little too greasy, just hop in the shower. Washing out the oil in the morning doesn't seem to have any negative effect.
