So this is my first post! yay! :)

I have a bit below shoulder length 3Bish hair. I want to start wearing my hair up more but I always feel so self conscious about it. I hate having my hair slicked back on top of my head. Do you know of any updos I could start with to maybe ease myself into wearing it up? or any that just don't look so severe?

Also when putting curly hair up do you do it when wet and brush it back or do you just kindof finger comb it back?

Thanks!

I tend to wear my hair in a modified french roll with one hairstick most of the time.

I don't pull it back tight from the hairline, just loosely. Make a ponytial at the base of my neck, don't tie it off, just hold it, twist up until I run out of hair, put the hairstick in facing the roof, then flip it and push down gently, wiggling so it doesn't catch hair.

And I don't do it while wet because I don't want to cause any stretching of the hair, but if I need to I'll put it up when it's damp. As I only wash my hair once a week or less it's usually dry.

Welcome to the LHC! :flowers:

Cute styles, huh? Well, my all-time favorite style for curly girls is this version (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showpost.php?p=536941&postcount=10) of the curly messy bun! I don't know how curly girls pull their hair back without making it slick, but you might want to try Rini's instructions anyway. Definitely try it once you find out how to do pull back your hair softly. It's really cute!

Try not pulling your hair back so tight. I used to always keep my hair pulled back tight against my head it gave me a very severe look that I don't much care for. Any hairstyle will look allot more casual and elegant that way.

Don't pull it back too tight or you might get a headache/migraine and plus some of your hair might snap as it dries and shrinks. I find putting it in a clip is the easiest and fastest. Even readjusting it during the day is very quick and easy.
