I am doing henndigo on my salt and pepper hair for almost two years and I remember when I was considering using henna I had really hard time on making the decision because I could't figure out how my grays might look like!
(it is hard to tell from the strand tests because it's not easy to get all those grays in the hair ball!)

So, I think it is a good idea to have a thread where all of us who are henndigoing our s@p hair could post some pictures and also share tips for better results.

Ok, I'll start:

I always end up doing my whole head instead of roots only, and because of that I'm doing only glossing.
My current mix is 3 parts dye released henna, 1 part indigo mixed with a cup of cone-free conditioner. I add about 1Tbs ACV to the henna and some salt to indigo.
I keep it on my head for 4 hours and than just rinse it out.
I really love my color, but sometimes I wish my grays were less orange/red !

And, here is my current color:

I would like to darken my grey's, too. Maybe next time I will use more indigo than henna and I find a teaspoon of amla helps to darken.

Up till December when I decided to let my silvers go natural, I was using Rainbow Dark Brown henndigo for my silvers. Here's a before and after pic:

It worked great on my silvers and made them nice, rich dark chocolately with no red.

The first time I used the whole container with tepid tap water and some vinegar (did not wait for dye release). Then about every three weeks I did roots only, using only about half a jar, mixed the same way. ETA: I left it on just 75 minutes, then rinsed out but didn't shampoo for at least 24 hours afterward.

This picture is a mix. It is henndigo from ears down and henna glosses from ears up (over light brown hair with some gray) I notice the difference in shades (darker at the ends, lighter at the roots) not sure if it's noticeable to everyone...

kdaniels8811,

please post your results if you decide to use more indigo!
I am thinking of that too, but don't want to darken the rest of my hair.

mellie,

I am lurking around the salt and pepper thread, thinking of joining the Club:)
I think I look better with grays than red, but love the conditioning effects of henna, so I can't make up my mind :(

wintersun99,

your hair looks beautiful, the difference is not that visible, at least on that picture!

Oh you should try it, Serious!! I am so happy with my hair now!! I love seeing the silver streaks grow, and I really love my natural brown too, it's such a rich pretty color, I feel bad I had been covering it up before! :D

Thank you. Sadly, it doesn't look like that anymore - shortly after that picture I used indigo and turned my hair black... ended up cutting it all off. But, it's something to look forward to again...
