I've been using soapnuts to wash my hair for the last couple of weeks (twice a week) and I'm still not sure if I like them. The foam seems to be cleansing my scalp and roots nicely, but the length felt both coated and dry - until I put conditioner back in the mix. On the other hand, I'm shedding much, much less than when using shampoo... Maybe I just need to tweek my soapnut routine!
How do you use soapnuts? Please also say whether or not you use conditioner after washing, and any other details. Thanks! :flowers:
ETA: Also, how long is your hair, and do you use the soapnuts just on the scalp or all over the length as well?

I use the soapnut foam every day, basically scalp only.

I am assuming I can include Aritha powder in this poll as I use Aritha powder mixed with Shikakai powder and used to wash away pre wash oil massaged into the hair.

If I use soapnuts, I usually use the powder or a gravy, mixed with other herbs. I use shikakai more often.

Im going to like reding this one i just ordered some aritha/alma/and that S one i never spell lol among other things. I like reading all the tweaks people use. When i get mine im going to make a tea strain the powders and add some menthi to thicken it up a little. I can wait to see how it goes!

I use aritha liquid, massage it in my scalp and length. Leave for 5mins or so then rinse away. It leaves my hair silky and oil free :D
I dont use conditioner or anything afterwards, I use a deep conditioner and oiling before I wash my hair with aritha and I only do this once a week.

Exactly my story with soapnuts over the last month. I found an ACV rinse worked better than lemon and seemed to soften my hair. The times without my hair felt stringy and strange. Yet the length is still dry, light coconut oiling helps slightly. I'm thinking of using more herbal rinses.

I use cold-brewed soap nut infusion (1 organic soap nut in 16 oz spring water, brewed at room temperature for 24 hours) weekly. I apply it sparingly (just enough, but not too much) to detangled dry hair and distribute it through my hair well (usually with my WIDU Bamboo brush) before bed. In the morning, I rinse it well with spring water or white tea (1 used teabag to 7 oz spring water, brewed overnight). Love the results.
