My father in law was just going through some of his stuff and he found something really cool, which he gave to me. It's a bag full of dried spanish moss and a card with a poem on it:

"There's an old, old legend that's whispered by southern folks
About the lacy spanish moss that garlands the great oaks.
A Lovely princess and her love, upon their wedding day,
Were struck down by a savage foe amidst a bitter fray.
United in death they were buried, so the legends go,
'Neath an oak's strong, friendly arms, protected from their foe.
There, as was custom, they cut the bride's long hair with love,
And hung it's shining blackness on the spreading limbs above.
Untouched, Undisturbed it hung there for all the world to see,
And with the years the locks turned gray and spread from tree to tree."

- Legend of the Spanish Moss, by Dawson Corley.

He can be, at times, yeah. (others, he's a pain in the butt, but all older people that live with you are, I think)

I grew up at least half my time in the south and I never heard that legend. Thank you for sharing. (P.S. I tried to gather up some Spanish moss to bring home with me last time I visited down south, and it was full of insects.)

I love it! :) Thanks so much for sharing - it really does look like hair. Beautiful trees and plants like Spanish moss are some of the nicer things about living down here. :D
