I'm just starting to grow my hair. One thing I noticed, you can't see my earings anymore. So, I bought some big hoops and long dangling earings. Also, I like to clip one side of my hair back, so I can see my earings. I have 2 piercings in each ear and like wearing earings.

What kind of earings do you all wear? (Love to see pics) And, do you like to wear your hair a certain way to show them off?

Heh, the kind of earrings I wear are plugs. I've been stretched up to 4g for about 4 years, and I'm probably not going to go any higher. I always wear my hair in a ponytail to show them off.

I love dangly earrings, especially shoulder duster style earrings. I can't wear them though unless I wear my hair up or half-up, otherwise you can't see them AND they get tangled in my hair. So any time I plan on wearing earrings, the hair goes up.

This pair is my very favorite, a friend got them for me and I adore them.

Some other favorites, all of which I made myself (clickable):

The last time my earrings were visible was October 2007... :) Now I just tuck my hair behind my ears when I want to show off earrings. Here is a picture with my favorite green drop-earring showing:

Actually, one of the reasons I started growing my hair longer was to show off my earrings! Rare is the day when I don't wear earrings/jewelry. The shorter styles I used to wear hid them sometimes. Now, wearing half ups or updos earrings are usually more visible.

Interesting for me it depends on the earring, I love the ones I have now but being I do not work in a Bank anymore its kinda hard to wear them. My Cameo's form 1956 they are gorgeous put to formal for the Pharmacy. I just stick to my stud earrings they do not get stuck in the fine hair.

My ears are pierced twice. I mostly wear big earrings. I've never really been partial to little ones. My hair is always in a cinnamon bun for work so visibility isn't an issue even with my tiny top set. When my hair is loose the big ones show up fine. I love the dangling camera earrings. Question about plugs, can you ever remove them and wear traditional earrings, or is stretching irreversible?

I only got my ears pierced after my hair was long enough to stay up... I never would have done them otherwise. I *love* having my ears pierced - sounds like I have the same as you, two on each.
I usually wear these lately.

I know the scarf doesn't go... I only stuck them in just now to show you :bluesmile One of my favourite things about wearing earrings is matching my hair stuff, my scarfs and sticks, to them. I am a girl after all... :p

I like long and dangly but simple earrings... for the last year I've pretty much just been wearing my goddess spirals, though, except for special events. :silly: Even so, I wear my hair up almost all of the time, so I've not had this particular problem. Perhaps even half-ups could be useful?

I haven't really had a problem with earrings showing. However, when I had regular non bigger holes (mine are 12 gauge now, which is still small) I wore big earrings. If I was worried about getting my hair caught in them, I wore my hair up.

I usually wear my hair up (bun or pony tail or braid). I rarely wear it down.

I have 2 holes in each ear lobe. I usually only wear earrings in the lower holes. *IF* I wear earrings in the upper holes they are studs.

I like wearing dangly earrings, but also wear studs. I will not wear hoops that are incomplete circles. My hair always ends up going through those (incomplete circle ones) and pokes out going forward (the wrong way). It looks silly.

As I always wear it up, this is not really a problem for me :) if I tuck my hair behind my ears -- tadaa.. there they are
I have 5 piercings in my left, and 3 in my right ear - and I wear small, identical silver hoops..

I have a lot of nice earrings because my DH has excellent taste in jewelry, but I often forget to put them on. I can't sleep in them, so even when I do remember I have to take them out at bedtime, and it can be weeks before I remember to put on earrings again. When I do put them in, however, they show because my hair is most often secured back and up in some fashion.

If my hair is down, it's still behind my ears and my earrings are showing. Yeah, they get a little tangled if I wear dangly earrings but it's never been a major problem. I guess that's a perk of straight, slippery hair. I got a cartilage (left helix) piercing not too long ago and that gets pulled by my hair rather a lot. I generally make sure I have a barrette or bobby pin with me so I can pull that hair back if it's bothering my ear.

I don't wear earrings very often, but when I do, I have my hair back. They would certainly be hidden and get tangled otherwise. I'm not much of a stud person either these days, so it's all dangley and nature-inspired for me, i.e. drops shaped like leaves and what not. Maybe I'll make today a photo day...

I have body piercing hoops in my ears. I find them to be low maintenance and promote the piercing health. Insert in ears, leave in 24/7 for years and years. No stud backs to stab me in the neck, get hair caught, or deprive skin of air. No danglies to eat hair. If I was a more fancy jewelry type of person, this wouldn't work for me, but since I'm not, it's awesome.

I do kind of want a change to a different color metal though... but have questions about where to buy them. Perhaps I will wander over to the piercing thread and see if anyone knows.

Even when I wear my hair down my earrings are generally visible, because my hair drapes back behind me. Also, I tend to tuck it behind my ears, come to think of it.

I don't have much in the way of earrings. Single lobe holes, which currently house some 10g circular spirals. And then one rook in my left ear, with a blue sparkly. I wear all of these 24x7 because I'm too lazy to change them every day or think much about it.

Looks like the Goddess Spiral thread has yet to be resurrected, or I'd direct you there. There are quite a few of us who wear earrings from Little Seven (http://www.littleseven.com/menu/index.html). My staple are a pair of 12g Cthulus. Since I wear my hair up or back most of the time, there's no concern about them not being visible.

I like dangly earrings, but not too big or long because it can look silly when there's no hair to balance them. If I had shorter hair that I could wear down more often I'd get much bigger earrings.

i only wear creole loops, i dont really like dangly ear rings as i only have little ears and it feels like the ear ring is stretching my lobe to my feet LOL also im scared my hair will get caught and break.

I must be one of the few people here who doesn't have pieced ears. It's not from lack of trying though. :p I've had them pierced 2 or three times but I can't tolerate having earrings on when I sleep. So I take them out, forget to put them back in and they heal up. Ooops :(

Personally, I don't like long loose hair and long dangling earrings. Partly because it looks like an accident waiting to happen and also because I've been tiered of long earrings for a while now. I like studs, especially in single cab cut stones with rich color (lapis, ruby), or pearls, or large vintage style earrings.... I wish I could wear them.

ME WANT!!! :rollin: OMG, is that a sticky (I can't imagine), or a pin?? I just LOVE that!!

As for earrings, my faves are big hoops and especially big dangly ones...with lots of dangly bits! Think "gypsy"! :cheer": However, it doesn't suit the rest of me, and the way I dress (simple and ubercasual). I guess I could wear them around the house (never thought of it) but for work it would just look goofy. Come to think of it, we can't wear big old jewellry at work anyway.

I wish I could pull off a more exotic look. However, with my body size and wallflower demeanor, it just doesn't look right...especially not for work  I *do* tend to avoid small earrings because larger ones look better on my larger frame.

I usually pull my hair behind my ears and the earrings show that way. Occasionally I wear my hair half-up or in a ponytail, so they show that way, too, but I haven't gone out of my way to make sure my earrings show. However, going out earring-less is almost as unhinging as going out NUDE!! lol! Almost. :D

My ears are dbl pierced, top hole are diamonds and I change out the bottom one daily...Depending on what I'm wearing.

If I'm wearing my hair down, I wear smooth hoop style, so they don't snag on my hair. I haven't worn my hair down much the last few months.

If I wear my hair up, the sky is the limit...I wear just about anything, I especially like anything blingy! :D

I'm a huge fan of earrings, they're pretty much the only jewelry I wear (I do wear bangles some days). I love big dramatic earrings, chandelier earrings are my favorite. I don't like wearing them when my hair is up though, I think it looks weird. I only wear the big earring when I am going out. For everyday wear I usually wear either the pearl studs I got from my aunt or the black pearl studs from my grandmother (I'm a fan of pearls).

This isn't the greatest photo (so mad at myself now for not saving the higher res. version!), but I have four identical implant grade steel hoops in the cartilage of my left ear. I never ever take them out and just love them to death. Occasionally I wear other earrings in my lobe piercings, but not every day.

I almost always wear my hair up, so it's not an issue to have them show. In this photo I have my flyaways clipped back- this is just because I'm about to go into the hospital for a shift and like my hair more tightly controlled.

Before my current job I used to wear long, dangly earrings almost every day. Now that I'm constantly answering the phones they get in my way too much (I hate hearing the clicking of my earring against the reciever). My ears are much happier- I'm sensitive to alot of metals and can only wear sterling or a really pure gold.

I also find earrings + hairtoy can be a little much, unless the hairtoy doesn't show from the front.

That said, I love long, dangly, chandelier style earrings. My faves are some silver and turquoise ones that are too heavy to wear for more than an hour or two, but are GORGEOUS.

I also love to pull out the diamonds when I'm feeling really shlubby. They really do go with everything, even sweatpants or a hospital gown!

I have a 10g in my bottom holes and I usually wear my handcuffs or something else(like little danglies)in my second holes.I do have my second ones streched to a 12g but I quit wearing those awhile back

I do halfups or buns when wearing my earrings.

Two of my favorite things: long hair and earrings. I have two piercings in each ear and usually wear a stud (either silver or diamond) in the top hole and hoops or large danglies in the other. I like earrings with a "presence" and have too many for my own good. Since I wear my hair either pushed behind my ears when down or pulled back, they always show. And I've never had my hair get tangled in any earrings I've worn. :)

When i'm not wearing my EarSkins, i have hematite plugs in there.

Bodyartforms.com. Hands down the best body jewelry company ever. They really care about their customers and have a huge selection of jewelry in every price range. No, I don't work there, I just love them :inlove:

OP: My hair is always back now and I either wear steel spirals, steel tunnels or glass borneo spirals.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g277/happynightmares/body%20mod/myear8g.jpg?t=1208632494 That ear cuff used to get my hair every time. It was a pain in the ass and I almost lost it a few times when my hair tried to hold onto it. Also in that picture, 8g captive bead ring, which didn't get tangled in my hair.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g277/happynightmares/body%20mod/WebCam_20070925_0020-2.jpg?t=1208633100 I love these. They've gotten loads of comments, all positive. I started wearing my hair back, pre-finding LHC to show these off. Edited to add: These are 2g and 4g (glass jewelry varies a bit, but they look matched in-ear).

I have my ears pierced a few times. The ones on the upper part of the ear are rings, so the backs don't get caught in the hair. On the lower parts I wear studs for one and then for the other I love long danglies. I tend not to wear gold danglies because it gets lost in the color of my hair, but silver and colored danglies look great. I have to keep a plastic back on them though, so the hair doesn't push them out. I usually just wear my hair down with earrings, because it's thin enough that if I push it behind my ear it will stay. If I really want to show the earrings off, though, I will put my hair up or half up.

Great earrings everyone, very pretty. I wore my new long dangling earrings the other day for the first time. Everyone loved them! I always always wear some kind of long dangle earring. Either ones on thin wires or I have some spirals (some 12g, some 10g) that I wear almost all the time. I cant stand how I look in studs, my earrings have to be long. It's just one of those things... and I don't think they really make a difference in how i wear my hair.

I used to wear really big hoops when I was a teenager but now, I usually just wear jeweled studs, small hoops or very thin and light dangly earrings. Like another poster said, I don't want to stretch the holes. I also have 4 piercings total, so I almost always wear studs in the second set.

Love the barrette! I wear plugs too. Hair is a big reason I started stretching my ears to begin with. I found cbrs to be easier to wear and more comfortable than wires. They never snagged my hair or poked in the head. After I got my conch pierced, the rings I had in my lobes looked odd so I got a smaller diameter pair. I couldn't change those myself without tools and wanted to be more independent so I switched to plugs. Trouble there being all the beautiful plugs started at 0g so I clearly had to stretch up. To make a long story longer, I am at 3/4" now. My plugs never snag my hair. Ever. I wear my hair up a lot so my ears end up being on display.

These are my favorites. Glasswear two-color galaxies.

Depends on how large you go. Some people easily shrink back down. Others don't. There is no way to know before you do it. You should always count on it being permanent. If you aren't prepared to commit to big holes or surgery, don't stretch.

I wear big (00 gauge, 1.5 inches from top to bottom) glass spirals in my ears, which don't show when my hair is down. However, I'm always tucking my hair behind my ears, which lets them show.

My hair also gets caught (not really caught, but bits of hair slide between the gaps in the spiral) in them quite frequently, but it doesn't get tangled.

I like that they're glass, so they're nice and smooth, so my hair doesn't get stuck to them like it would/did with standard dangly earrings.

I can't find my stupid camera, but I'll try to take pictures later. I love earrings, but I only get the cheap ones. My ears can bear it and I've always hated spending money on jewelry. For a woman, I'm weird, I know. :p On the right side I have three hole piercings on the lobe, the larger one at the bottom, then goes up slowly to smaller. At the top of the ear I have a round diamond (fake hehe) stud. On the left ear I just have the three holes on the left lobe pierced. I find that just tucking my hair behind my ears on the right side looks nice. With the arrangement of earrings I have, I love long whispy hair in updos with it.

I'll be wearing plugs until I get to my goal gauge, which is either 4 or 2. I haven't decided yet. Right now they're eyelets. Once I reach my goal I'll be switching over to jewelry like this:

I wear my hair up 95% of the time so I don't need to worry about the jewelry not showing.

I have been wearing long hair and earrings fior years. My wife likes my long hair and earrings, so no reason to not wear them. If you want to show off your earrings, wear your hair up. Or wear larger earrings.

I'm finding that I wear my hair up most days so hidden earrings aren't a problem. As I get older, I'm coming into my own and truly not caring what others think so my earrings are getting larger and goofier than they were, say, in college.

I still like a single classic pearl or diamond stud but I'll also rock shoulder grazing choices if I'm in the mood.

I always wear one very long dangly earring...usually a feather, and one short on the other side. doesn't matter if my hair is up or not as it usually has no problems getting tangled in the earring, unless they are hoops, which I stopped wearing for that express purpose.

I have 5 earrings in each lobe, plus a rook and a helix piercing in my right ear (picture (http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/404727_3134096870514_1207567293_33503367_158888309 7_n.jpg)). I've actually just started stretching the bottom lobe piercing in my right ear as well but I don't have a picture of that.

I wear ball closure rings in all my lobe piercings, never regular earrings because I lost far too many earrings with my hair getting caught in them and pulling them out. That never happens with BCRs.

To change things up a bit I'll just unclip the ball and clip in a different accessory - these (http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/318807_2480181283033_1207567293_33105745_178590111 2_n.jpg) are my favourite, I actually made them myself out of the earrings I wore at my wedding :)

My hair is often up so they tend to be quite visible!

Mine are post and some times I show mine off. But not all the time.

I love earrings, especially dangly ones and especially especially looong dangly ones :) I've always been a bit self conscious of my ears (they are a little sticky-outy) so I only ever wear dangly earrings when my hair is down and studs when its up so as not to draw attention to the actual ear rather than the jewelry. There was I girl at school who thought I was mad, she thought you should always wear your hair up to show off your earrings. My hair is pretty dark and I love silver colours with greens and purples so they normally show up pretty well against my hair anyway. I have had problems with my hair getting caught in dangly earrings, but I have a habit of twiddling my studs when I'm bored or thinking and have got hair wrapped around the post so tightly I had to snap the hair before, so either way is not entirely safe!

I show my earrings off by wearing my hair up. I love long, dangly earrings. They show off my long neck.

I usually will wear long, dangly earrings, or large hoops. Here's one of my favorite pairs. Got them from an Etsy seller, they are wooden faux- gauges:

I always just have my hair up. :) Long, dangly earrings are my favorite.

I tend to prefer a shorter dangly earring. But my hair often is caught in my earrings, and can sometimes hurt or pull.

Just one of the things I occasionally have to struggle with.

I actually had a hair one time strangle a mole around my neck, that blood supply was lost and it eventually fell off. That's now happened to me twice. LOL

Long hair creates interesting pickles, sometimes.

Mostly hoops, at least at this time of year. In warmer weather I might wear something a bit more dangly, but right now things on the dangly side tend to snag on my fleece jackets and vests (which all seem to have high necks), which is a bother, so hoops it is. Somehow I don't seem to have trouble with hair getting caught on earrings. I do mostly wear my hair up.

I wear small and medium gold earrings. My only rule is: big earring, small necklace or small earring, big necklace.

I've stretched my piercings to 4g. I usually wear plugs, rarely I'll wear a hanging design. My hair's not super long yet, but it covers my ears so I just tuck it back. That's probably what I'll do when my hair's longer, too. =D

I wear what are called men's ear cuffs. Three on the left, one on the right. I want to get a 'helix'? piercing, but I'm worried about healing. My skin heals very slowly now.

I must not be the only one who has felt cold earrings on a bare neck, or had earrings fall out of the ear because of big jackets with high collars (winter gear). Sometimes in winter, I just don't wear any earrings at all.

I wear dangly earrings when my hair is up, and glittery studs when my hair is down. If I wear the danglies with my hair down, they get knocked out of my ears and I lose them.

This sounds like a good system. I don't have earrings myself, but if I ever get them this is probably what I'd end up doing.

I have 2 holes in each ear.
I usually wear studs in the back and maybe a dangley at the front.
I wear my hair up to show my earrings off.
If I wear my hair down, I tuck one side behind my ear.

I wear 8 in my left ear and 7 in my right ear. I always wear my hair up, so they show.

I love jewelry and especially earrings. I have two piercings in each ear. I always have small studs in the upper piercing. In the lower one I wear dangly earrings or loops of some kind, almost always (except to bed). I like the larger earrings in the lower piercing especially if my hair is down so they can be noticed easier when I move my head around. If my hair is up I may wear smaller dangly earrings since they can be seen more easily.
